    Default Using doughballs

Has anyone ever used doughballs to fish for bluegill, whether with jigs or by itself? And if so did you have any luck with it?

I have caught some nice gills on doughballs. I don't fish bread much, but reading this makes me wonder "why not". Bread is a great bait that will take a lot of fish.

I don't think you have to roll it into a ball. Just pinching a small piece onto a hook will also work.

I fished with doughballs when I was younger. The downside is that the little "bait stealers" will nip at it until it's gone. Sometimes I would chum them on the surface with pieces of the heal. Then I would fish the bottom with my doughballs. Generally this would bring the little peckerheads to the top while the bigger fish were cruising down low.
