I have never fished the Ogeechee river but do know that part of the country has some very nice redbellies and stump knockers, how big was it? We use to catch a lot of redfin pike over there too. I joined the Navy in 52, retired Navy, and have never been back to GA to live, I have lived in MS since 69 which is the longest I have ever lived in one place, guess I'm a MS hick now instead of a GA peach. I sure do miss the bar-b-que and brunswick stew from that part of the country, in MHO the best comes from over that way.

His stump knocker weighted 10oz, he caught in on a friday and had it certified on a monday, the world record is 13oz so he was real close!!! Sure do love that food here!!!!

    Default Red Breast

Red Breast Sunfish is something you don't see much of in my part of the country. (western Ky) The State Fish and Wildlife stocked them in a strip pit about 20 years ago. I was told they handle water with large amount of copper better than other fish. After seeing your post, I may go try to catch some of them. Might be some "biggins" in the pit. I had forgotten about the stocking. Anyone know if their habits are different than bluegill?

Well i have been catching them in a river, but they love a gold head and gold blade spin dandy made by hildebrandt. My best colors have been the black skirt and the crawfish colored skirt. Crickets always work too! Good luck if you go after some!!
