Illinois varies, you have to check the regulations or read the signs posted at the waters (usually there is a sign somewhere regarding catch limits).

'Bama is 50 Bream (Bluegill, Redear, Green, Flier, Pumpkinseed, etc. aggregate)

Crappie is 30 with a 9" statewide length minimum and 10" on some lakes.

2 lakes in the the state with a 3 pole maximum, the rest of the lakes are unlimited.

30 "Stripes" with varing length limits except lake Weiss, which is 30 of any species and any length.

Black Bass is 10... largemouth, spotted, and smallmouth aggregate.

    Exclamation In Kentucky ...

.. we have all kinds of "limits" :p --- size limits, daily limits, possession limits.

Several years ago, KY placed the Redear Sunfish (Shellcracker) into the "Sport Fish Species" catagory. Daily limit was set to 20 ... possession to 40 ... but no minimum size limit.

As with alot of states, KY has varying limits ... depending on which waters you fish. Statewide limits rule, unless a specific body of water has special limits on certain species.

Remember, ignorance of the law is not an excuse for breaking it .... KNOW the limit laws, wherever you fish

There are no limits on Bluegill & the other "sunfish" species (exception being the Redear, statewide) except on Greenbo Lake (15/day creel limit).

Most of the specific lake limits are for LMB, SMB, Crappie, Channel Catfish, Trout, and Muskies.

Statewide .. Crappie limits are 30/day - 60/possession - no size limit. But, on most lakes, there is a size limit ... 9" or 10" And the KY/Barkley Lakes have a 20/day - 40/possession - 10" size limit. This is why one needs to know the current limits of whatever body of water you fish.

Kentucky also recently changed the interpretation (or rather explained it better) of what the "Possession Limit" means. Your possession limit is two days worth of the daily creel limit, after 2 or more consecutive days on the water. That's pretty much a standard ruling. Except now, the ruling states that "processed" (cleaned) fish do not count towards your possession limit !! This means that you can only have a limit per person, on day one ... two limits per person on day two ... of unlceaned (live or dead) fish. But, once those fish are cleaned, they no longer count towards your possession limit. The only problem is .... they don't say whether or not that ruling counts from day one, or day two, or day three & beyond. Personally, I wouldn't chance it until day three (not that I have to worry that much about it :p )

No limits on crappie, perch or gills here in WA except for a few lakes and reservoirs where people have gotten greedy and hurt the populations by over fishing. The ones that I know of have a combined limit of 25 crappie and bluegill with a 9" minimum size on crappie no minimum size on gills and 25 perch with no minimum size limit. We even have one catch and release only bass lake now as well. State wide regulations on crappie, gills, sunfish, and perch is no limit or size though.

Up in zone 17 (Kawartha Lakes Area) in Ontario, Canada where I live we now (2010) have daily limits on yellow perch (50) crappie (30) and sunfish/bluegills (300 of which only 30 can be over 7.1 inches)
These are for sport licences only...conservation limits are lower...
Most other zones in the province are 50-30-50...
Possession limits are the same as daily limits

Where are you seeing this info on the panfish and crappie? When I check the regs it says unlimited on
    Pike (immediate kill or release)
    Crappie
    Sunfish
All other species not otherwise protected or limited
