LOL, I had heard this 50 limit before and thought I was just not looking in the right place. Maybe it comes from San Carlos? I think they have a 50 limit don't they?

    In Kansas:

    Crappie - 50
Bluegill, sunfish, etc. - no limit

There are some waters that have special limits.

    In TN...

Bluegill / Bream - No size or creel limit
Shellcrackers - Creel limit of 20, no size limit
Crappie - Statewide 10" minimum, creel limit of 15 in Middle & East, 30 in West

These are the general rules, althought the limits do vary somewhat from lake to lake.

Except for a few small lakes with special regs.
Crappie 15 ,20, 30 , 50 depending where you fish. Most of the state is 20 above I-40 and 30 below interstate.
Bream (all species except Rock Bass ) is 50 , but no limit those under 4'' . We use those for bait, which is legal here.
Bass (Smallmouth, Spotted,Largemouth all combined) is 10 per day with special limits and lengths and number on Smallmouth in those limits.
White Bass is 25 (Stripers and Hybrids only 6 )
Sauger, Walleye, and Saugeye (combined total) 6
Trout is 6 with lots of special regs.
Catfish (Blue, Channel, Flathead) combined 10 with special regs ( some areas allow more) Bullheads no limit.

    In Missouri:
Crappie- 9" limit most places, 10" on a few others. Daily limit 15, Pos. limit 30
I believe most other panfish fall under a 20 fish aggreagate limit.
