Now you can go under the other bridge to the west of the ramp and hit those pylons to then if you happen to try and fish the standing timber to the west of there you are in for a big surpise. It looks like open water, but it is only about 3-4' deep and the timber is the same. If you can manage to stay in the creek channel and make it up the creek you will find some good fish in there. Hit tall the laydowns on the out edges. Go as far up the creek as you can with your boat. I run a 20'er and I go to the point I can turn it around and have to back it out of the creek.

Thanks for the tip Crappie_jigging, I may give it a try Saturday since there's going to be a NNE wind. I have another question for you (or two) :o did you fish these areas a float all day or did you do any dipping? I thougt about vertical jigging the area and possible spider rigging if I got tired of standing.

I just used a slip cork and jig. I was using a 10' pole and hitting on the outside parts of the laydowns. Well I was set the jig down in the brush. Now around the pylons I tried casting a jig and letting it fall to about a 4 count then slow rolled it in, but for some reason the slip cork and jig worked best there too. The bite was slow, but steady for me. Just set it in and wait atleast 2-3 minutes if no bite then just pick up an move it over to another hole in the tree or pylon. I was bouncing it oh so slightly just to give it a little movement. I am sure any jig will work the water will be stained so a little bit of a dark color will work.

I would really try up the creek for your best results. Spider rigging might work near the bridges. I have not tried that. I know the water up the creek isn't really deap enough for that. You will see mainly 5-7' water once there. Bridge area will be 12-18' water.

You will see guys fishing off the bridge too, watch them they will curse you a little. Cause of a little jealousy, because they don't have a boat and want it to themselves.

Hey Crappie_Jiggin,

How far a run is it to good fishing from the Spaniard Creek ramp, is it close enough I can make it there and back in my mini-boat? I run two trolling motors with separate batteries, both big deep-cycles. I have put in at Hwy 10 landing before and fished the bridges there and the one outside Greenleaf park before, though it's been a long time, and did well. Also, how bad does a north or south wind affect the creek?

Perchjerker this would be a good place for you to put your mini boat in. Go to the bridge and that will put you in the creek itself. Take hwy 64 south of Muskogee to E. 123rd St and turn left then you will turn left on N4330 county rd. This will take you straight to the bridge. The ramp would be to far for you to go up the creek. Sorry it took me so long to get this to you. I went fishing yesterday morning and then ran into some problems, just now getting back to the website. Just click on image it will open up so you can see it better.

Thanks for the reply Crappie_jiggin. I stopped by there Saturday after leaving the Eufaula get together and it looks pretty good. I went into both areas and the upper one between the two bridges looks perfect. I saw a pontoon anchored off a secondary point in the main campground area that was fishing a brushpile. He caught a couple and another gentleman was fishing the same brushpile from the bank and from visiting with him a little, it sounds like an area I definitely want to check out further. Will let you know how it goes.
