    Default Grand lake question

My brother in sister in law are going to grand the last weekend in march and have asked my wife and I to go. They like to bass fish and we like crappie fishing. Is it worth the trip to go down there for crappie? Not asking for anybodys hot spots but if I go what should I try and where are they usually at that time of year. Depth etc. Any help would be appreciated!!

I got this from the conservation people today.

Grand: Upper end: Elevation normal, water 45 in the lake, 50 in the rivers and clear. Largemouth bass good on crankbaits and jigs. White bass good on chartreuse and green grubs with sparkle and white rooster tails in upper Elk and Spring rivers. Channel, blue and flathead catfish good on shad, brooders and shad guts at 40-50 ft. in the main lake and on secret seven dip bait in the rivers. Crappie good on Grandpa's jigs, minnows and Bobby Garland's at 15-18 ft. around docks and brush piles. Paddlefish good from Sailboat Bridge to Council Cove. Report submitted by Grand Lake Sport's Center.

    Talking north end

the elk is always the best fishing up there this time of year for bass i know its always the warmest water on the lake this time of year as for the crappie i dont know never been able to get on enough to stay busy i think i would put them in and let them go bass fishin and then head to eucha

white spinnerbaits, watermelon candy shakyheads, lipless crankbaits
in 3 to 4 foot of water and as always a sweetbeaver in the bushes and willows..... be careful runnin the elk though!!!!!

I would stay up in the horse creek area around the bridge areas...They always provided us the best crappie fishing and the bass fishing is good up there too. many of the docks around the lake have brush piles on them, but depending on the water temps by then they may be moving to the banks so hit the backside corners of the docks closest to the bank.

When the water is clear at Grand you can find the darkest water and use 1/64th ounce jig I like pink either hot pink solid or creme pink white and pink. Chartreuse and black with glitter is also a good bet. Red Arrow is great and the bridge at horse creek is also excellent. Rember to only keep 10" or better fish with a limit of 15
