Back to cooler weather and water. The brown trout were really active on the Beaverhead this evening, sucking up some yellow sallys. It was the same last evening. Nothing over 14 inches. But 5 days ago, we were haying right next to the river and I didn't have my fly rod along. So I had to cheat and use an artificial. Crappiewrangler's spoon nailed two browns that were 20-21 inches. A much bigger brown (about 6 pounds?) made a pass at it, but the treble had tangled in the line, so no hookup. Got quite a few more bites, but they came from mosquitoes.
