No way this is the USACE fault. The dams were built strictly for flood control and hydro generation and not recreational purposes (however 99% of the time this is a great addition).

That's Funny Stuff Right There Reaper...Bitter I am not. Concerned for my friends and family and their loss of property and life's that have been affected. Yes I know Van Burean is a big concern down stream. But my question is why wait with all the data that was available to release 66,000cfs on May 21, 2015 when the real problem started 3 weeks ago. Very Very Poor Planning. Just stating an opinion and there are a lot of opinions that share mine as well. You know they are like backsides we all have one.....Ranger

Mark - Why don't you direct your question to the COE and see what their answer is and then report back to everyone?? How could you have planned better the release?

That's some funny stuff right there George. Contact the Corps and ask a question. Let's for the sake of argument take a look at the Grand Lake of the Cherokees. Yes Grand Lake. When it just looks like it could rain the corps opens the flood gates on the lake. Reason being, well we all have an opinion on that as well. Can't get the green grass wet up there. Just for the sake of argument I don't recall a single news station around the State Of Oklahoma that hasn't broadcast for over a month that we are in store for a very wet spring with flooding rains almost daily. Remember the quote of everyday. "Turn Around And Don't Drown". Data is available to all just not a few......Bitter I am not but common sense we should all use when life's are being changed forever......Ranger

Mark, you are correct, lives are being changed both upstream of the dams and downstream of them. This has become a stressful time for millions of people as it does every time a flood comes through.

One thing is I get to see the inside picture of what all has to be taken into consideration and the general public doesn't get to see that. I am not allow to say anything about the situations, but The Corp is doing all they can do. Again you must see the whole picture and the Corp can't show that to everyone.

You are right Mark, common sense should be used. News stations have broadcast that Oklahoma is in for a wet spring but can they predict, with accuracy, where the rainfall is going to hit and how much? The key word is accuracy. No. The quote "Turn around and don't drown" pertains to drivers and children to turn around and stay out of high water. This is aimed at environmental conditions AFTER the rain has fallen. I see nothing funny in any of this. You keep referencing the fact that you are not bitter, but your commentary continues to portray that you are. Why do you keep this up? Can any of us stop the rain or do anything to change these conditions? NO. Sooo let's see some common sense here.

Jiggin can you possibly give me one logical explanation why "The corp can't show that to everyone"? If not can you direct me to the person that can answer that question?

You are not looking at the big picture just you own situation. Jiggin is correct, there is a lot being done by the Corps on the inside that no one can or will see. Accept it and move on. Thank you Jiggin for your comments.
