1st OklahomaCrappie & Coffee Report
Eighteen Crappie fisherman attended the 1st Oklahoma Crappie & Coffee meeting at the Olde Orchard Restaurant in Oklahoma City on Saturday January 10th. After a brief period of introductions, the discussion turned to the upcoming Winter Camp at Hugo Lake on February 6-8th. George Edwards (cricket george) led a discussion on fishing locations and techniques for finding Crappie during this time of year. Floyd Carter (IkenI) stated that it had been forty years since he had fished the Lake and discussed how he intended to start searching for fish. There will be discussions each morning at the Breakfast about where the fish are being caught and techniques being used.
Good discussions took place about rods, how to keep minnows alive, fishing lures and how to put a tracking device on Redge's boat when we have summer Camp at Lake Tenkiller in June.
Marty, a new member, and his two sons along with Evan , a father-in-law to one of the sons, joined us. Evan, 80 years young, is retired from the OKC police force and enjoys chasing Crappie.
Future meetings will be on an "as called" basis and we will be looking for a more central location.
