Fish are almost always on bottom jig?

Seems like I always run two jigs and vertical jig. 80% of the fish I catch will come on the bottom jig. I can reverse the colors and get the same thing. Is it the action? I seem to catch more fish though if I run tandems instead of singles. So doesn't help the action theory. What are your thoughts everyone?

Maybe it's a sneak attack on the last one in line since the majority of hits are as the baits are on the rise?

Sounds like your bottom jig is more in the strike zone than the top.

In the case of white perch that is true about 90% of the time because they tend to hug the bottom. When I am using minnows if they are biting fast, I leave the top hook bare and I have caught fish on the bare hook after one hit the bottom hook. Least I am guessing they hit the minnow first.
Crappie I did not think were bottom huggers, but they tend to come up to the bait rather than down so I'd think you are running the baits just above them and they hit the closest one first.

I would have to agree with the rest, that the bottom jig is actually more in the strike zone. I have had one fish take both jigs at the same time, on numerous occasions . Also I think on the drop the bottom jig gets more action which contributes to the higher hit ratio. i.e. I think if you raise your rod tip 1-3' and drop it the bottom jig actually swings in a big arc, well at least a bigger arc than the top jig.

in my mind i like to run the 1/16 oz jig on the bottom and the 1/8 on top, just for that purpose, the ark and more action. As far as being in the strike zone, maybe and maybe not, that is for suspended fish. Suspended fish, I can see on my graph. I can also see my two jigs on my graph, therefore i know where the strike zone is. when the fish are hugging the bottom, i agree with the bottom jig. It is my goal to run my jig 1 foot off the bottom to target those fish.
