    Default Mcgee Creek

Anyone know much about this lake? I am thinking about trying it tomorrow since Texoma crappie are being tight lipped right now. I was going to drive to Eufaula but this is half way. What would you do? Go to Eufaula or try Mcgee?

Thanks in Advance for any advice.

I have never fished McGee Creek lake for crappie because of mercury level concerns with other fish there. Nobody on here mentions it much. Eufaula has been a little tough lately too for some folks. I believe if I was gonna venture from Texoma I would try Hugo or Broken Bow right now. Maybe a north Texas lake also.

Thanks for the advice. I might have to make the run to Hugo. I have no idea where to start there either but I have always heard good things about it.

Mcgee is a very deep and clear lake with LOTS of standing timber from the bank out to 50+ feet of water. I tried it once in winter and did ok for a first trip, but it is too far for me. Hugo has a good reputation and pretty regular tournaments, I would fish there first.

I decided on Atoka. Water clarity was about 3 inches. Not a good ramp but I got launched. Fished standing timber from 5 to 30 feet. Fished rocks and main lake points 10-25 feet. Fished almost everything in my box. Never had a hit. Sure is pretty and I saw 14 deer. Hugo next time.
