sparky405 On circles you can't have too much bait on the hook or it will not rotate into the jaw right. Don't set the hook, just sweep your rod to the side. When fishing for big guys we will use 6/0 EC with the smaller diameter, and hook your bait right on the end. We have caught many over 20 lb blues up to 60 on 3/0 hook with a 1/2"x2" strip of cut. A fresh head cut off right behind the gill and barely hooked right above the gill produces well on bigger fish. With blues, have your bait extremely fresh, bleeding. Blues are often 3-6' over deep water and are spooked by a boat easily. We will use balloons tied to an interlock swivel with baits at 3' and 6' to float away from the boat. Takes on 25 lb to pop the balloon.
In 3-6' fow or 3-6' in deep water ? I'm gonna give it a try next time I go out
I never fished circle hooks because I haven't had any problems out of kahles but I'm sure they.are.a great hook.....I'll post.some pics from Thunderbird blue cats we caught this winter....soon as I.figure out how to post them lol
Can't wait to see fish caught closer to me lol most of the guys on here are on the eastern part of the state and im thinking their lakes have better fishing
dang, those suckers are huge, i catch a few 33lb catfish when crappie fishing every year. Kind of weird I always weigh them and they are always 32 or 33 lbs. Maybe i'm topping my scale lol
Catfish love Crappie. Crappie makes for great bait. That said, this thread can stay on the main Okie forum because now it's Crappie related.
That's Just Plum Wrong. Lol
Thank you Reaper. Now Ranger are you a weeeee bit biased? :Rofl
