Thank you all so much for your prayers and well wishes. We are perfectly fine here on our island of Negros where we were spared the devastation suffered by so many on Leyte. We were hit by another, smaller typhoon yesterday so I was out late into the night wading through floodwaters and carrying kids to my Ford Trekker ( Ranger) then hauling the families back to our local church which is set up as an evacuation center. We fully expected that Typhoon (hurricane) Yolanda or Haiyan would destroy our island paradise but Leyte seemed to blunt the fury of the winds as the storm hit us and then it picked back up once over the ocean again and regained intensity. Many of our new friends here have families on nearby Leyte so we are filling up our truck for a rescue supplies trip to Tacloban soon. Mary and I are not very necessary in all this but our truck is a rare and vital resource so we get many opportunities to serve. We are actually heading out right now for a trip up the mountain where we expect to find people in good shape. Our Internet here is spotty when the weather is good like today but when it is stormy service goes down. The next two months is typhoon season so I may lose touch again but I want each of you to know that here so far away from home and loved ones it really means a lot to see that we are not yet forgotten. Thank you. Will try to stay in touch more consistently.
