Hi guys I'm actually from wister and fish it most the time about 12 to 14 days a month and if you want to find the shad there in the main lake right now there's millions of them in about 14 feet of water they always go to the main lake when the river starts to flow I was actually there on Tuesday and found them all over the river channel in the lake but none up in the rivers the last couple times. There's a few here in there up the rivers but out in the lake you could possibly walk on them there so thick.

I have a trip planned for the end of the month. Was going to bring the wife down for some crappie fishing but concerned about the lake level and water clarity stabalizing in time. Didn't know if anyone knew if they were any bait stores around locally?
they are running water as of last Friday. we got a lot of rain over the weekend. I got around 4.5 inches here. when we was there last week it was pretty stained. there is a bait shop in Wister I don't remember the name . if we don't get any more heavy rain it should start clearing some by the end of the month.
Take a man hunting or fishing for a day he'll eat for a day.
Teach a man to hunt or fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.Thumbs Up
There actually isn't a bait store any more in wister but I live there and the water should be fine as long as we don't get a lot more rain the lake is actually 3 and half above normal but it don't take long for them to pull it down. Make sure you have your license to cause they don't sell them at the stores anymore. You can always ask me how it looks in a couple weeks if you need to.
Hey guys, Thanks for the replies I appreciate the help. Was fishing hugo last weekend when the 3inches fell down there, made it pretty well unfishable. The lake was very muddy before the rain.
Anyone know what is going on down there? Heard lake is back down to near normal>
Water is back to normal and the crappie are being caught on the bank. But the cold weather will slow them down a bit. I will say in the middle of April will be catching lots of fish all over the bank if the water and weather will cooperate.
