    Default Lake Wister

I got a chance to go fish Wister for the first time this weekend! Let me tell you its worth your trip down there, we never got futher than a quarter mile from the boat ramp. We probably caught 50 fish kept 22, missed IDK how many and hung sveral big ones that got off at the boat! I hung a 2.5 plus in the first 30 minutes of fishing. We weighed our best 7 and they weighed 10.50lbs! That lake is AWESOME! I will be back! EB

    What part did you fish?

You know, sometimes with age you often remember things being better than they really are. You account of fishing at Wister is just how I remembered it!!! Glad to get a confirmation that that lake is still on fire with Crappie! I usually put in on the river at Potts Creek and fished the stumps and beaver dens if the water is right. Fanny creek can also be great!

We launched at Potts landing in the Poteau River! We started catching fish the first bank we fished! We spider-rigged Yum beaver tails and wooly B's in 4-10fow fishing 3-6ft. Every local that went by ask us if we caught them fishing like that? LOL They are not familiar seeing someone spider rig in the river I guess! EB

I think most people around there use Jig and Cork or Minnows and corks. I never saw anyone spider rig until I fished Eufaula!

I grew up fishing and duck hunting Wister, Poteau river and Blackfork Creek. Good to hear it's still like I remember it.

Great report EB. I have a fellow co-worker who fishes Wister all the time and he is always telling me how good he does crappie fishing that lake. I have a standing invite to go with him some time, but our schedules usually have conflicts and we can't seem to get hooked up. That report makes me want to go even more now.
