Default Where have all the fishermen gone?

Is no one fishing???? Where are all the reports? I will be fishing for 3 days on Hugo in a couple of weeks and will have a report.

I got skunked at Fountainhead marina last weekend. I had caught a few in various locations (private fishing docks and a culbert running under highway 69), but no real success so far this month.

It appears that they are still running deep (most of the fish I have caught are at least 10-12 feet) and they're spotty and real particular about what they will bite.

Brighter colors are more successful than dark colors and the bite can be really difficult to feel. One day when I was fishing last week, the bite was somewhat aggressive and that takes the guesswork out of knowing when to set the hook. But more often than not, the bite is so light you have to muster up all your crappie catching skills to be successful at hooking the rascal.

We may have an early spawn next spring because some of the females I have caught recently are already forming eggs.

Now that deer season is basically over, we'll start seeing more fishing reports. Good luck on your trip down south.

Stink - Ya know the best part about your post is that you are FINALLY back to fishing. I know what it feels like to be finally FREE. It is normal for the female crappie to be forming eggs now.
The Hugo trip should be great fun assuming the weather is good. Chatt Martin is coming along with Frank Burwell from Kansas and, I hope, Odie is going to join us as well. We will eat well, sleep well and the laughs will flow.

    Default Tis the Season...

Being a musician, the Holiday season doesn't allow me to get out and fish as much as usual. Work is work, though.

Anyway, I'll be getting out several times this week since my last concert series has wrapped up. I'll be fishing Oologah among some other places.

Quick question: I have access to a dock but I'm not sure what body of water it is officially considered. It is located between Ft Gibson and Lake Hudson. What river is that? At least, it "feels" like a river.

I want to make sure of the regulations...ie (creel and daily limits).

I think it's nice having the water to yourself. Down turn is very few fishing reports to get you started though.:o
