I went out to Thunderbird twice this past week, Wednesday and Friday. Got skunked on Wed and caught 1 on Friday! Dang, those critters are being obstinate. I threw everything at them. They definitely are moving deeper. Can get them on the finder but they don't want to play catch.

Out with friend early yesterday morning on Oologah. We caught two limits by noon. I cleaned them and cooked them up for a fish fry last night for about 20 guests. Then watched the game. The Crappie are biting like mad if you're in the right place. The depth yesterday varied from 5' below the surface over brush, to a foot off the bottom in 14' of water.

This Fall hunting and fishing season is flying by! I've been trying to get out and sink a few brush piles and stake beds since Sept. and still haven't made it out.

Bow season came along and started out great. 3 deer in the first 6 days. :D

Then toward the end of Oct we found out my dad has pancreatic cancer. He's basically accepted it and has turned down treatment.

As if that wasn't enough, his Wife started having severe pain in one of her hips. Turns out the ball of the hip was broken (doesn't know how it happened. I'm guessing being an active 77 year old contributed to it ). She had to have her hip replaced so now she's not able to take care of dad, so I've been staying at their place helping our 5 or so days per week.

My Wife tries to relieve me on the weekends and sometimes my Step Mom's daughter will stay a night or two during the week.

I was fortunate enough to get to hunt a few days in the Gun season and filled my second buck tag.

Hopefully more family will kick in and help with dad and his Wife. It's wears on me being away from my Wife and daughter this time of year and being one of the major care takers of my dad and his Wife.

With Eufaula down as much as it is, I imagine it would be easy to find lots of good places to sink lots of brushpiles! Just gotta get a chance to get the Deer hunting bug out of my system. Hoping I might get to do some bowhunting in Jan over in Ark. Would like to have a crack at a few more or bucks this year.

And of course I almost forget Winter catfishing on the Nav channel....so many outdoor activities, so little time and warm weather

But I promise to try and get you a fishing report just as soon as I can!

Don, I'm sure your father would qualify for a home-health nurse, even a hospice nurse if he hasn't already gotten in home nursing care. They can sure help lighten the load and take some of the stress off family members.

I commend you for spending the time with your dad. He appreciates seeing you and just by your presence, it gives him strength.

Yes, and a hearty AMEN from me on that. My Mom always perked up when I walked into the room even days before she died.

    Thanks Stink and CG.

I know what you say is true. I was gone three nights and just got back the night before last. His Wife said he kept asking when I was coming back. Plus, I was really shocked to see how far he'd went down in 3 days.

Dad has both Hospice and Home Health and they do help out a great deal, but the other 95% of the time when they're not there is the trying part. He's to the point now where he'll start talking about something that happened many years ago, or ask "where's your Mom?" even though she passed away 3 years ago. Or you might find him on his hands and knees trying to plug a lamp into the front of the couch...that sort of stuff. Plus, he's always been a private type of guy and full of pride. I guess being a former Drill Sergent does that but it makes it doubly hard to try and do things for him because he still thinks he can do them for him self and doesn't want "anyone to wait on me". But now it's to the point he knows he has no choice but to rely on others and it's just sad to see him basically at a helpless state.

Anyhow, didn't mean to hijack this thread.

CG, hope ya'll sack 'em up at BB. Keep us informed. Guess I'll have to try and get down there one of these days myself! Never knew until last year that it was a Crappie hotspot.

Okiedon- I am going to be on Hugo not Broken Bow although BB is a hotspot in its own right. I have walked many miles in your shoes over the past several years and I know how depressed you are getting. It takes its toll on you. I am just now getting my business backup and running as well as my fishing.
