The old park is now the property of the Cherokee Tribe. They have really done a lot to improve the ramp area... lights all down the road and electricity served to the camping grounds. The ramp is still a single and a little narrow, hard to see in the dark. They mow regularly and now charge a small fee for camping.
To get to the mouth of the creek, head to the middle of the water from the ramp then bear right (starboard) behind the island. (do not try to pass between the island and the point... rocks and wading deep water) go straight ahead into the creek channel. Bear in mind that the Sallisaw Creek channel is as much as 24 ft deep in places, but the channel is very narrow, 20-25 ft. All waters not in the channel should be traversed at idle speed or use the trolling motor. I personally ruined not one, but TWO lower units in that area.
