I always liked to use perch or bass and hook them so they swam just under the water and create a little wake when they swam around. This worked good until I put some in Lee's creek right there at Van Buren one year. The next morning when I went to run my lines, about 1/4 of them had snakes on them. How them snakes ever made it back to the tree and up on the limbs I'll never know, but needless to say, those limblines stayed there! The rest I took down and I forgot about setting limb lines in there again, although I did well with trotlines.
