    Default Limb lining for Flatheads

I broke loose for a couple of days and went back "home" to fish with the man who taught me almost everything I know about catfishing and deerhunting. He is getting on up in age and his mobility is limited but we managed to go last night. We baited at 830pm and checked the lines at 1130pm. We had a 41 lber, 30 lber, 25 lber, and and 11 lber. We rebaited and went back this morning, we had another 24 lber. Over 130 pounds of flatheads in one night, just like I remembered it. The fishing was great, but spending time reminiscing about all the other fishing and deer trips in our past, was even better. Thanks Dale for one more great night of fishing.

    P. S. I have a new phone and if I can figure out how to post pics from it I will.

Looking forward to seeing the pics Odie! Few things are as pretty as a big ole Flathead on the end of your line!

I know what you mean about reminiscing with old friends. Just today, I watched the G3 Sportsman where they were coon hunting. Brought back many a night me and an old man spent in the Ozarks chasing coons. He went on to be with the Lord a few years ago. I sure miss those nights sitting in that old jeep on the side of a logging road listening for those hounds to tree.

I lost track of the guy who taught me how to deer hunt. I often wonder what became of him and I'd love to meet him again and personally thank him for all he did. This guy use to drive 20 minutes out of his way just to pick me up to go bowhunting. Then drive another 30 minutes back past where he lived to where we deer hunted. Then when the day was over, he'd drive all that way again. Nearly every weekend during bow season. Anything he hunted, he took me along.

Man that sounds like a blast! I haven't run limblines since high school(and didn't know much about it then).

I always liked to use perch or bass and hook them so they swam just under the water and create a little wake when they swam around. This worked good until I put some in Lee's creek right there at Van Buren one year. The next morning when I went to run my lines, about 1/4 of them had snakes on them. How them snakes ever made it back to the tree and up on the limbs I'll never know, but needless to say, those limblines stayed there! The rest I took down and I forgot about setting limb lines in there again, although I did well with trotlines.

Me and my old pal fished many a limb lines. We didnt catch any flatheads but we caught tubs of blues over 20 lbs apiece. We had some great times on the water together. He doesnt get out oo much anymore but still loves sitting around talking about the good ole days.

Congrats to you and your buddy. Great catch and another memory spent together.Thumbs Up
