Big wild cats are a bad thing in cattle country. Timber wolves used to make cattle ranching difficult.
They got rid of them. They are a very dangerous predator. If you don't think so just ask the folks in California that are being plagueed with cat attacks.

According to Cougar, Mountain Lion, Oklahoma: The Cougar Fund the ODWC have never and have no plans to stock Cougars in Oklahoma.

Also according to Mountain Lion (Puma concolor) there are no such thing as a Black Cougar.

They are in my part of the country year around .I see them pretty regular . No big thing except when they have cubs momma is a real bi@#$ at that time . She will tear your head off . Voice of experience. If your hunting and carrying came in a pouch they will track you . Just hang the game on a limb move out calmly toward home. Most time they don't follow. But if they do follow you just may be up sh*t creek because its a very old one looking for something slow to catch . Any time your hunting make sure you can run faster than the guy your hunting with.

There is a south park episode where uncle Jim and Ned demonstrate the technique used to get around the law in such cases. You shout, "He's after me" right before you shoot him.

There are no black cougars bu there are black panthers

The word I heard was that the federal fish and game had stocked them, not the ODWC

Confusion exists about the term black panther on various media including internet. It is generally agreed that the name black panther is not a scientific term for a distinct species but is a common name for some big cats with black coat. Only two types of big cats are scientifically recognized as legitimate black panthers: black leopard and black jaguar.
Neather of which are indiginous to the United States.

They are big black cats around Binger OK. I personally seen one at my daughter's place 6 miles south of Binger. It crossed the road in front of me while I was leaving her place. It was the size of a mountain lion. But if they don't come in black colors, I'm not sure what it was, I just know it was a large black cat!

I don't know, it's kinda like Bigfoot, been reported by thousands of people but no real photos or dead bodies have ever been found. Same for Black Panthers. Since a lot of reports are of animals crossing the road you would think that sometime in history one would have been ran over and killed.

I'm not saying there are black panthers in Oklahoma, but whehter called by other names incorrectly or coreectly, there are evidently black panthers. As to the cat I saw, it was not black.

There are definitely black panthers is the US though. Here's photographic proof:
