    Stink, you're doing fine!

    I understand about wanting to get your life back. It's been nearly 3 years since our home flooded. There was no flood insurance and we've just been paying to rebuild it as we go. It's been a blessing in some regards, but I still have all the crown molding and baseboard to go and one bathroom. I'm just burned out of working on it!!

    Carpentry and working with wood has always been one of my most favorite things to do. Started taking woodshop in junior high school and learned the basics well by the time I graduated.

    I've really enjoyed building this house, been frustrated more than once, but overall, no regrets and haven't had any major problems.

    One commonality shared with others building their own home or doing a remodel, is a person naturally reaches a point where they just become less enthusiastic about the whole deal.

    And when you finish the task, all the negative feelings magically fade away ........slowly.

    I console myself knowing that this will all come to an end in the near future and I will be finished. And at my age, I doubt and have said previously, I will never do this again. Nice thing about it, I won't have to because this place will never be sold while I am alive and plan to hand it down to my kids for their enjoyment down the road.

    I put these updates in here to share my progress with my friends here at crappie dot com for two reasons; one to show and one to grow

    Your comments and feedback are very welcome and give me encouragement at times when I need a boost. So, I thank all you guys for keeping me positive and really appreciate your comments and compliments.:D

    You have a great outlook on everything Stink. It is a wonderful feeling when you can accomplish a task or project and feel good about it no matter how hard or long the road has been. Merry Christmas to you.

    Made a little more progress by getting my kitchen window trimmed out and the light above the sink installed;

    I still need to apply a couple of coats of clear finish to the new oak and put the trim board beneath the window stool to be completely finished with the window trim.

    I was even able to install (3) "mini"-shelves on the right side. A good place for salt and pepper shakers and my coffee mug.

    Thanks for looking.

    Did someone ask for another picture? I don't think so, but here is the latest on the kitchen cabinets with the finish applied to the window trim and an overall view of all the cabinets. Not much different from other pictures I have posted.

    I'll sure be glad to get all the kitchen cabinets installed so I can have use of my kitchen again, mainly the kitchen sink. Having to use the bathroom sink now and that's a hassle. Preparing meals ain't easy either, but I haven't missed a meal..........lol

    Thanks for looking.
