Progress On My Lake Cabin

While most of you have been tearin em up during the spawn, I've been working on my cabin. Looks like I will miss the best part of the spring spawn.........sigh:o

But I have made progress and plan to be living in my cabin by the end of the month. Here's some pictures of my latest progress;

The picture above was taken to give an idea of how high this cabin sets off the ground. I had to build scaffolding (see picture below) in order to be able to install the windows.

The picture below shows the back of the water manifold and the breaker box with all the wiring.

The water manifold is convenient for being able to control each unit requiring water independently. Hot or cold, if you want to turn the water off to a sink or the tub, you do it at the central location and all the rest of the plumbing in the entire house can remain open and in use.

This is a shot of the bathroom entrance and the door to the right is to the utility room which will double on occasions as an extra bedroom for the grandkids.

I've got some more pictures and will add them as I have time, but for now, back to work. Thanks for taking a moment and looking at the progress made thus far.:)

Hey Stink, nice to see how you're coming along. Those PEX systems are pretty cool. One thing I normally found wrong (when I was an Inspector) with the installation was that the installers would not secure the lines as required, but yours look great. I think you'll love it.

BTW, did you do your own electrical work or hire it out?

I'm doing it all Don, usually do when I build. Not a licensed plumber or an electrician, but there is no code for where I live. It will all pass code and when I build in a coded area, I have a licensed plumber or electrician come and do an inspection and sign off for me so the inspector can do his final. Usually works out great and saves me a ton of money. Those guys make more money than I do working as a nurse.

Here's a shot of the bedroom area. Notice the sliding glass patio door which overlooks the lake. I plan to build a screened-in area right outside that patio door so the flying insects won't pester me while I'm having my morning coffee.

The drywall crew will be here Thursday morning, I hope, and the tape&bed, texture fellow will follow them that evening after they are done and get started on finishing the walls.

He should be finished by the first of next week and then I can install the electrical receptacles and light switches. I will primer/seal the new walls, then paint them before hanging the light fixtures and ceiling fans.

While these guys are doing the drywall, I will be under the house connecting all my drain lines to my sewer system. I might want to take a bath..........eventually.:rolleyes:

Later in the month I will start building my kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanity. After they are finished, I will install the flooring, trim, and door stops.

I hope to be totally finished by the first of June. Wish me luck!:)

Thanks, appreciate your input. I figure I get this lake cabin finished and looking good, I might find a girlfriend. I almost had a psychic girlfriend last week, but she broke up with me before we met.:eek:

A psychic girlfriend might not be a bad thing, if she can look into her crystal ball and tell you where all the big Crappie are schooled up. LOL.
