Just to prove that my Momma raised a fool I took a couple of geezers even older than me out on the lake on the hottest day of the year and zero cloud cover. Knew we were in trouble when one of em showed up wearing all black clothing. Because one of my new friends had chores to do we got a late start at about 9am and headed to a big brush pile in 10 fow to drown some Arkansas Jigs. Not a bite so we moved to a nearby pile in 18 Fow and started catching fish. When that spot turned into a dink factory we went back to the shallow pile and one of us crushed 11-12" fish, about 30 of em while the other two tried to learn what hitchhikers and jigglers feel like. They never really got there but still seemed to enjoy the day eating ribs and dodging crappie as I threw over and around them towards the two live wells on the Lund. We left em biting at about 3pm with Johnny Cash begging us to " try one more spot." Nice to see RR Steve in the parking lot and to get my guys in the air conditioning. I was surprised to see my truck thermometer reading 103 on the way home . We cleaned 47 for my fish hungry buds- with 2 13" fish that only weighed a pound each. Lots of 11.5" ers weighing in at 3/4 lb and a few 10" fish. Never tried jigs- stayed pretty busy tying on drop shot rigs and running the TM and untangling rigs etc.. It was a good day and nobody got hurt but maybe not the wisest trip I ever took. Including a picture of Johnny Cash, The Man in Black. He was a hoot and was very gratifying when he had a fish on!
