Thanks again for the help. We went west out of Blue Creek and stopped in 23' & fished 12'-15' down. Surface temp was 86.4 degrees. We kept 30 crappie, using shiners. Also pulled up 8 catfish, the largest being 23".

Takes a pretty good fisherman to go to a new lake and pull out 30 good fish first try. Way to go.
Fished main lake brush with minnows in 10 to 15 fow. Took home 14. Should have followed Slip Bobber's lead and tried deeper water maybe? My fish count and average size has been slipping the last two trips from a month ago.

Most keepers for me have been down around 18'.
Reaper, Where Fish come to Fry
Friday's forecast was so cloudy and cool that I had to get out there and enjoy it! Water temp was 89 on Monday when Crappiefool41 and I got skunked walleye fishing but down to 83 by Friday. I took an old friend of mine who didn't have a lot of experience but who brought excellent snacks and 3/4 pound of huge minnows- it took him a while to respond properly to the subtle cues but the fish were active so he got better about the time we were running low on minnows and I started using jigs. Fished from 8:30-2pm and caught 83 total. Cleaned 54 nice fish mostly from 11-13" and threw back about 10-15 10" ers so it was easily the best keeper to dink ratio I have ever pulled in from oologah. Water clarity continues to improve and the fish show it by their vivid markings and color- fun to see them on the way up for a change and they had more fight in them than usual with several making horizontal runs like a sand bass. We looked at piles from 9-20 fow and they all had fish on em but we kept moving and fished the wood that was lit up like a Christmas tree- those were in 10-14 fow with one 10' brush pile producing about half our fish. It was hard to leave them biting like we did- they actually got more active as the day went on. By the last hour if we didn't get bit within 15-20 seconds I would pull it up and check my bait or nibble and it was generally gone. So long story short the summer pattern is on and the walleye guys seem to be moving on much to my disappointment. Including a picture of a big beetle we found in the parking lot along with a request for people to stop cleaning fish by the ramps and throwing carcasses in the water. It draws the black vultures who then hang out in the parking lot vandalizing trucks. Last year they did about 400.00 damage to mine by ripping off weatherstripping from around my windshield and wrecking my wiper blades etc. I can live with the scratches and buzzard poop but dang! They were back on Friday eating crappie discards and pretty soon we will train them to come back every day and hang out on our trucks like a bunch of bored teenagers looking for trouble. Rant over- thanks for listening.
Nice, Cc. Especially nice Portulacas. Not that I know a moss rose from a Russian thistle, but my mother-in-law is a renowned flower show judge.
Trout fishing has been good here in Montana, but my slavedriver boss (younger brother) told me that if I'm not running a tractor or driving a hay truck for him, and there is time to go fishing, I am to forget fishing and go shoot the gophers that ate his newly planted alfalfa seed.
Big crappie fry coming up, for family and friends who don't get to eat crappie, unless we bring fillets from OK.
Have a great summer.
WTG!! CC BTW, THAT is a big beetle! You might put a saddle on him. great post
