Is double creek usually pretty good crappie fishing? I am a complete noob to Oologah, so I welcome all the pointers I can get if anyone can help. It's closer than Kaw for me and seems like a good lake so I would like to learn it. Not asking for anyone's honey hole, but some pointers would be appreciated.
It sounds like you live more towards the north end of Oologah. If I were you, I would check out Winganon Bridge area, double dip the rip rap, and possibly use a cork and minnow in a foot or two of water along there. Spencer and Tallala Creek aren't very far south from there, and both seem to be very productive spawning areas. Lots of brush in both areas. I think with the sun shining today, tomorrow, and Saturday, the males will be back up in the shallows, and the females hanging out a little deeper in and around brush. Minnows have been a key for us lately, although my biggest fish have come on jigs without minnows. Hope that helps Matthewjp.
