Whisperer. I didn't really expect you to post where that brush pile is. That was a joke. Nice of you to offer to trade though I'm pretty sure all my piles are very public... And not very productive! Good luck in the tournament. I am looking forward to seeing the results.

Brushpiles in Oologah are like Rip Rap in Eufaula! I've never seen a lake with so many brush piles in it! EB

True EB! Maybe the reason I have struggled there is that the crappie have too many choices and I keep choosing the wrong piles! When I get my new TM with spot lock I'm gonna move around more and find the parents of all the dinks I have released back into the lake. They owe me a favor. If you are scouting for the tournament and pull up an old anchor in oologah it is mine. I have donated several to the rock sculptures there.

Just remember George there are only a few active fish on each pile, the best crappie fisherman in the world Ronnie Capps and Steve Coleman try to fish 50 piles on one tournament day. "Never beg them to bite, but, never leave when your catching fish". EB

Well where is your weigh in going to be? I would like to hopefully make it to meet some of you and listen and learn. I dont know the ramps or Oolagah really at all but I live in Bartlesville and its pretty close lake for me. One I want to learn how to fish on for these things!! I really miss bass fishing so think I will really start bass fishing again and when it warms up enough for the wife Ill have to get her out crappie fishing because her health no way she can catch bass or would want to cast etc.

Lol! I wish I had a big crappie for every time I have quoted Marks " don't beg em to bite" the past month! I think I need to hold off on "spot lock" and get me a side scan so that I have enough options to stop the begging. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for that info EB . That really helps me change my mind set.

I had a spot lock unit but it doesnot work on our windy, windy lakes would only keep you in a generaly area maybe
with-in 100'. Sold it and bought a power anchor, with it and trolling motor can stay on brush piles easier. My 2cents!

Went fishing on Oologah for the first time in a long time. It seems that they are doing about the same thing the last time a left them. Easily catching dinks but no keepers. I did learn one thing during this trip, sometimes those schools of shad on the locator aren't necessarily shad. The locator showed solid shad all the way down to 25ft on a dropp off so we decided to throw the cast net for shad and try drifting for cats. I threw the net and pulled it up. I found that i had a net full of shad sized baby crappie. I dumped them out and threw the net a couple of more times with the same results lots of little crappie and no shad. Kind of interesting.

Thanks for your input. I have about decided to let the technology ripen a little on the TM and have now suggested to my family that a side scan locator would change my life if Santa sees fit to jam one in my stocking. How deep will the power anchor hold?
