I fish the docks at Redbud two or three times a week. I have seen quite a few small sand bass, one LMB about six lbs. and a couple small crappie that are effected or infected with something. The sand bass and LMB had blotches of light colored skin but the crappie had some kind of growth on various parts. LMB was floating on it's side so I assume it was dieing.

should we be worried?? Is this because of the fall turnover? Seems strange to see fish with worms in the fall and in the deeper clearer parts of the lake. At least my experience has been fish in hot, stagnant water usually have worms..not the ones in the deeper cooler part.

No, do not worry about the parasites on the fish. The parasites have nothing to do with the turnover. I was told that we could just fillet the fish as usual and cut out the parasite and consume the rest of the fish. Personally, I would harvest the fish and add it to the flower bed or garden for fertilizer.

I'm gonna be getting on the water tomorrow, to crappie fish from a boat (for the first time). We're gonna try and locate some brushpiles and catch 'em. Having never been on the water at Oologah, are there any piles that are marked by buoys? I know the Corps does the Lat/Long adn GPS, but I'm not sure we'll be able to access them while on the water.
I've looked through the Corps page and have tried to make some mental notes (very difficult to remember depths and locations! ). I was just going to print the "big picture" but my computer had some issues with that. LOL

Any tips on where to start?

Hopefully, this post gets read by an early-riser...as it's 1:30am already. I can't sleep for some reason...GOT CRAPPIE ON THE MIND!!! I've got my camera packed, so I'll be posting pictures up with a report.

Without GPS it's kinda hard for me to tell you where to go. Hit Blue creek. most of the piles are 20-30 yards from shoreline in about 17-20 FoW. If you have a sonar unit you should be able to locate the piles with it, it will just take a bit of trolling motor use to get right on top of them. I suggest using a marker bouy once you locate it. There are no fishing bouies on Oologah like other lakes, it just takes time.
