I usually fish the Talala Creek area, from the lake to the creek itself. Right now, any of the steep bluffs would be a good bet to find Crappie from 11' - 16', from off the bottom to within 6' of the surface. Brush will produce many dinks along with a nice fish from time to time. Most of the nicer fish I caught were close to brush, but not in it.

    Default Oologah 9-10-10

I finally got back out on the water after about an 8 week hiatus. We built 2 new brush piles for some future fishing then started fishing about 1030. We fished 2 brush piles in 12 to 17 fow. The fish seemed to be around the edges of the piles at times then sometimes you had to be down it. The bite wasn't fast at any time but it was consistent. We fished until 1pm and caught about 75 and cleaned 25 over 10 inches. We had a few 12 inchers and a couple of 14 inchers. All fish caught drop-shotting minnows. Good to be back out.

Im hoping to get out today. Hopefully its not too busy below the dam. The last time I was there, I couldn't hardly put a line in the water because of all the folks out. Funny, every time that this has happened to me I sit and watch for a while to see what people are doing and see if they are catching any.
Most of the time they are not catching any....we call them "space wasters".

Anyway, good luck to everyone fishing today!! I hope we all catch a record!

Traffic was low, fishing was decent.

Caught some crappie and sand bass. The crappie are moving in below the dam, although the bite is very lite right now. We really need some rain before the fall pattern (that I know) picks up. I was using BG baby shad on a 1/16 jig. I also did well with the jig and cork.

Fished Saturday and Sunday and the fishing was not as good as usual. Saturday we fished till 10:00 before getting run off the water from the NE wind. The storm the night before may have turned the bite off, and the two to three foot swells made it really tough to fish Saturday, we ended up with 11 keepers. Sunday was a much better day with the wind switching from the NE to the SE around 9:00. Don't really know why the fish didn't bite good, unless it was the wind changing direction, or the front coming through. We went home at 12:00 with 14 keepers, with some decent fish in the bunch.

I guess I am going to have to in-list in one of you old timers(relative to fishing oologah) to take me out on a trip and show me how it's done. My boat or yours..it don't matter.
