well. We did ok. Ice was still in some shaded areas along the banks. Wind ended up chasing us off the lake. Couldn't hold on cover after about 2pm. Which is around the time the bite got really good for us. Ended up with 12 keepers 10-14 inch fish. My dad lost several fish. He isn't used to fishing with the 12 foot rod he recently got. And has a bad habit of laying it down and missing the bites. Had a 10lb Blue cat hit my jig. Lots of fun on a 11ft. rod. Good thing I remembered the net today. Most fish came from 14 ft. on brush in 18-20 ft of water. Although the 2 biggest ones, hit my jig probably about 5-6ft deep when the high wind started and over powered my trolling motor and put me into a spin.

All in All a wonderful day on the water. I was happy to bring some home, haven't been out in forever, so I was glad I found some fish.

Will be hitting the lake in about an hour. I need to find out if these fish have gone deeper than 12' yet. Broke 2.5" ice at Talala Creek last week and they had only moved from 7-8' to 11-12'. I'll chime in later if I find some.

Fantastic day on Oologah! Every where I tried, I caught fish. In the brush, suspended, 13' - 18'. I gave the 10' Huckabee Dipping rod a serious workout today landing at least 150 fish. The sensitivity of the rod is amazing. Any yes, I have it strung with 12# Bonehead Braid and never had a problem. I was able to save a lot of jigs with the strength of the braid and just rebending the hook back into shape after retrieval. The Huckabee Dipping rod survived because I never put heavy pressure on it when hung up. I really need to everntually get nothing but the Huckabee Rods in the boat. Every little tick from a Crappie no matter how light it was, I could feel it. Thanks Ken!

I ALWAYS make sure the braid in NOT wrapped aroung the tip, then crank down pointing the rod tip at the hung bait. Then I wrap the line around my reel handle about three times and pull inline without stressing the rod. The jig is going to straighten out and pull off the brush, or the line is going to break. It's that simple folks.

I kept a limit of 37 that went 10-12". I caught nothing big, but at times, I was catching a fish each time the line hit 13', and that was probably in an area that covered over a 75' circle!

What an absolutely beautiful day God gave us! I'm happy I was able to launch the boat, finding the fish biting like they did was very nice seeing how Oologah has really been slow for quite sometime.

I used Crappie Reaper jigs from 1/16 to 1/4 and color didn't mater.

Super job, Reaper. Some of the grandkids are at Skiatook, and I've been telling them to go fish Oologah. They say that schoolwork, part-time jobs, and basketball are taking up all their time.

Way to go Reaper! I think that's the best Oologah report in the last 3 years or so.
