What kind of structure were you fishing in that 8' water? Or were you just swimming jigs out from the normal spawning areas? Thanks for that post as I never would have looked for em that shallow right now.

Near the spawning beds around shallow brush. I could not believe it either. Just casting towards the bank and letting it sink for a few seconds. I noticed that the water temp was an unbelievable 48 degrees so I thought I'd try shallow. Definitely nearned something new. I hate I wasted most of the day fishing in deep water. The water was surprisingly clear as well.
cant wait to hopefully break in boat their this weekend!! Where is best ramp to unload from? Only place I have ever been is on that ramp off hyw 60 Ithink big creek but cant remember. it is where all the sand bass fisherman go early in season and late.
I fished Big Creek today and got skunked. Did go into the river and north from there and tried to hide from the wind. I was with a very good friend and we each ended the day with one dink a piece. I'll be in familiar waters in the morning though.

Welcome to the board RBC, you'll find lots of good folks here. There's tons of good brush piles the corp and fellow fisherman have put in all the creeks in the lower end of the lake. Those are prime starting spots for everyone. Look back through the pages of this thread and you'll find the website posted. I'm in a 16.5 SeaArk with a 50 Mariner and I've got a Okie Crappie.com sticker on the truck and the boat. If you see me on the water stop by and say hi, I'll help you find some brush piles.
Kevin
I went out yesterday morning and stayed until sunset. Hit all the usual places and caught some dinks. Around 3 in the afternoon, we were sitting over some brush in 22' of water and caught a few more dinks, I checked out the other side of the boat which had to be 24' and started catching small ones one after another. This led us to move to a spot that had a good brush pile deep and finally started catching a few larger fish. We were fishing 28' feet of water and getting the hits around 24'. With nice fish hitting only 8' deep just last week, I would have never thought to try so deep yesterday. It was just a fluke that I found some to begin with. Will try it again today but am starting in the deep water. Temps were 45-46 all day long.
Went out from noon to dark. Spent time motoring around to find the fish on sonar, the best concentrations of fish and shad were in deeper water. So I started fishing wood and drop offs at 30' and worked my way up to 18' as the day warmed up. Fish were anywhere with wood and shad deeper than 23' till about 4pm. Water was 39 when I started 41 when I left. Earlier in the day had to hold the rod with a combo rig of a BG shad jig and minnow, I was rolling too much were I was fishing to spider rig. When the waves settled down at the end of the day I was able to spider rig with minnows in 18-20 fow over wood. Caught some very nice fish but most were average 10-12 inchers, kept 16 biggest. It was not a awesome fishing day but satisfying to finally be able to figure out a pattern and catch a decent amount on Oologah this winter. I am glad I spent the time motoring around to get an idea of where the fish were before I started fishing. 3 of the fish were females that were pretty swollen up with eggs, and some spit half digested shad out of there mouths.
will do i will be in a two tone gray older javlin --- if you see me do the same and stop by i will spend most of my time in blue and spencer they are on my side of the lake ---- good fishin ---- and God bless
