As promised, here is my report from last night. We hit the south end of the lake at 5:30 and started dipping minnows in brush around 10 feet. Most piles we hit had a few fish in them. We would catch 4 or 5 fish in a pile and it would go cold so we were on to the next one. We ended up with 32 keepers by dark. The fish were in the brush near the bottom.

No sweat Ranger, you should come up and fish this summer. The bite is starting to get really good! I'll be glad to show you around. The summer bite up here is much better on minnows though Ranger. I know you haven't bought any in years and don't plan on it any time soon so if you wanna come up and fish, I'll buy the minnows!

I fished the south end of the lake this morning from 7 to 10:30. I hit the same brush piles in about 10 foot of water with minnows. The fish were near the bottom. I ended up with my 37 fish limit of keepers over 10 inches and headed to the house. The summer bite is starting to get good. If you aren't fishing now, you're missing out. I'll be back on it Tuesday evening. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the good report, meatadragger. A little hot for us older folks! May try it at night some time soon.

I hit the water at daylight or shortly after and fish until it starts getting hot but sometimes the bite keeps me out there longer than I would like:)

Robert, you are killing me with these reports. I haven't been and won't get to go until after the 4th. Glad to hear the summer bite is on.

Fished spencer creek area yesterday in front of and behind the t-storm that blew over. It lightnin'd but never really touched spencer. I couldn't find a crappie on brushpiles but found sandies trolling tubes and bobby garlands along the flat. Most were smallish but did manage a few nice ones. Talked with another guy by the campgrounds fishing submerged standing timber and he was managing A few crappie. Took the girlfriend and a bunch of teeneage screaming girls tubing and they had a blast.

That was me that you spoke with Froggie. I went back to some standing timber I couldn't fish earlier because the wind. Did pretty good the last 3 hours of the day. I used a 1/16 ounce shad Bobby Garland jig on the bottom for weight and a minnow on the line about 12 inches above it, caught half on the jig and half on the minnow. Most of the action I found was in trees that were in 6-10 feet of water. Most fish were 3 feet deep, but right before it got dark I hit a nice bite right on the bottom. I ended up with about 20, kept 7, one really nice one.
