Fished solo both days this weekend. Pretty tough Saturday, couldn't get away from the sandbass. Caught 50 sandbass and only 5 crappie over 10 inches. Fished minnows and jigs and couldn't catch a crappie on minnows. Tried a bunch of different piles, sandbass were everywhere. Crappie didn't have much of a chance to get the jigs or minnows, sandbass hit everything. Sonar showed lots of shad balls too. Fished from 7 to 11 Sunday, tried a totally different area and got away from the sandbass, didn't catch one. Caught 9 crappie that would keep and another 10 or 15 dinks. Caught the crappie on minnows and jigs, but jigs did the best. Water clarity was looking better, looks like its getting close to normal now. Bet there will be some good fish caught in the tournament next weekend.

Well went up to the Big O today and it was tough for me and my son. Only had 2 crappie 1 keeper and 1 dink. Looks like it's going to be a long hot day for us at the tounry next Saturday. It's hard for me to find fish on a new lake. I simply can't find the fish without fishing a lake for a while. Oh well it's not about winning at the tourny it's about fellowship for me. I will do what I do best donate and listen to pointers after the tourny.
Good Luck everyone next Saturday.
EB and I fished Tuesday and Wednesday. It is still murky and the fishing is tough. We caught a total of 5 crappie on Tuesday and 12 crappie on Wednesday. No pattern at all. We caught 2-3 pulling jigs, 2-3 over brush and the rest jigging timber. We are going again Friday to look for a different pattern. I think someone will find them stacked up and catch some big ones. It is just not the norm for Oologah to be this tough and muddy in July. Come out Saturday and fish our tournament, eat some BBQ and swap stories.

I caught this one yesterday morning as well as several other nice ones. This one was 2.5lbs and just a hair under 16 inches. I'm hoping for a repeat Saturday! Good luck everyone and see you there.

Nice fish MeatDragger. I would love to have one that was just half that size. Never been on Oologah, but hoping Sat I can find atleast enough to weigh in.
Well here's my fishing report from the tournament. My partner and I caught our fish in brush in 9 to 11 foot of water with minnows. We ended up around 7.5 lbs and finished 6th I think. We probably should have dusted off the jigs since we usually catch bigger fish on them but I did so well on Wednesday with minnows we stuck with them. We also probably should have stayed on the lake all day instead of leaving for pizza and beer at lunch time! The fish were down in the brush good just off the bottom. We caught a fair amount of fish but not like we usually do this time of year. I think it will get much better in the coming days and weeks as the lake continues to stabilize.

I went out yesterday about 9 a.m. and hit one of Whisperers favorite piles in Talala Creek, within 30 minutes I had 3 keepers 10"-13" and 4 dinks. I tried a couple of other spots and got squat then went back to the 1st place and caught 2 more keepers, one about 14" and had missed 3 including one that was close to 15". I think the summer bite is starting to turn on now that the water has some stability. I can't wait to see what it's like once we drop some more brush in the area.
Me a friend had a fun day on Oologah today. We fished from 6 to 12:30 and brought home 32. We had one crappie at 15 inches, several more at 14, and quite a few at 12 and 13 inches. Caught em on jigs and minnows, with jigs catching a few more than minnows today. Had less than 10 throw backs today. We caught em in brush piles in 15 to 16 ft.
