Exactly Mark. This is the 1st year I've added structure to my local lake and it has made me a better fisherman and made the lake better as well. Before I put out structure at my lake out of 5 trips I'd get skunked maybe 3 times and the other 2 times catching maybe a few fish. I now am more confident in fishing under water structure, able to decipher better what I'm seeing on my graph and able to navigate to a waypoint better since dropping structure. I'm also not getting skunked and catching good quality fish and in numbers. This summer I have put out a total of 23 piles and stake buckets. I plan on continuing to do this. In addition to this I also started working on techniques I wasn't comfortable with or never done. I'm a diehard vertical jigger by heart but really beefed up my cast and drag as well as spider rigging this summer.

Sitting here at the house looking outside and what a beautiful day it was. Hurt back and all I just couldn't stand it. So at 10:30 I decided to head to Eufaula. Unloaded at 11:05am at Eufaula Cove. Started right off on the first pile feeling the thump. Fish are in 8'-14' and relating to wood. Also catching numbers off chunk concrete on the old 69 roadbed. The bite is pretty good and will say when the active fish are caught off the top you need to find the thickest wood or roughest rock and fineness the fish off the bottom. Loving this time of year not another boat fishing for crappie. At 2:15pm my back was screaming at me telling me it had enough. Ended with 29 on a short day.

Charlie and I fished on the 27, and again today. Fish were caught on the 27 on wood and chunk concrete along the old hwy 69 roadbed mid lake. We had 36 and caught cast n dragging. You could see the crappie on the rock in 12'-14'. Today they were not in the wood at all, nor on the concrete, but we found them on points and secondary point mid lake in 12'-18' right on the break lines as long as there was chunk rock or boulders. Again you could see the crappie on the hds. We ended the day with 49 cast n dragging again. Last 3 trips we have caught over 200 crappie mid lake. Not saying we have kept that many we are not hoarders.........Ranger

this is the funniest quote of the month right here! And nobody gives out as much useful information as Mark time after time. Now if I can just wean myself off of my vertical jigging addiction I can try some of these things out. Thank you again Mark and for your always open phone advice line as well.]

I am glad to hear that Charlie is still willing to take time out of his day to go out and show you how to fish. I miss that guy. Was always great getting to see him at tournaments. Good report Mark. Glad you guys have been getting into some fish.

Size: 34.9 KBI aint gonna say where, but I found some junk in Eufaula yesterday. Stumps just like my beloved Sardis and Wister. Positioned right on a ledge for 100's of yards! No timber, just stumps so nothing to give them away. Normally I wouldn't fish these places. But, yesterday was a good day to snoop around and check out some areas that I have been eyeballing for a while now. After I caught a bunch fishing 7-10 foot deep rocks and piles first half of the day, I stretched it out and ran for miles scanning till I found what I wanted . I am excited to see how well its going to hold fish later this fall and winter. It was holding fish well yesterday even tho the thermocline was not ideal for that area right now.

Is anyone fishing the gentle giant this fall? With water down, if you're fishing are you finding any?
