I wanted to start posting reports, crappie fishing rules, and history on Eufaula this week to maybe help guys are going to be fishing our cdc tournament Saturday April 5.

    Crappie Rules:

    1. Never beg them to bite
    2. Remember your fishing for a 1.50 avg not 75 11inch fish
    3. Find good visibilty (6 inch to foot is great but 1-2 inch is tough fishing)
    4. Watch your water temps!

    Crappie Tournament history:

    1. Most tournaments won here are 7 females
    2. Most tournaments are won on the south end( From 9A bridge south)
    3. Most all tournaments in the last 12 years in spring have been won slow vertical trolling (Either spider rigging or double dipping) Some have been won anchoring up as well!

    Crappie Reports:

Last weekend lots of fish were being caught in the Gentry creek area and Crowder Rock Creek area's. When the water warms up close to 60 degrees waves of fish come up into coves and creeks. There are a ton of creeks on Eufaula epsecially on the south end. Also lots of big crappie are caught on rip rap this time of year.

    I hope this helps everyone

EB, thanks for posting some rules. This is one of the most helpful posts I have seen in a long time. Question" when you say "Watch your water temps", what am I watching for? AND, "Don't beg them to bite"; how do I know when it's time to move? I'm one of those guys that like to anchor. Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks again.

EB ....Great information! Would you comment on the which colors of jig and soft bait you recommend in different water clarity conditions i.e. stained water, clear water. etc?

Search function is your friend whether searching for "when to move" , "what color jig for what conditions", etc.

Fished solo on the south end today. Began fishing around 10:30. For the first hour and a half the bite was very aggressive and caught fish 4-7 ft deep over 8-15 fow. The shad seemed congregated along rock ledges I'm assuming they were blown in against the bank because of the strong south winds yesterday. There were times when fish even chased shad to the surface. This first hour and a half I caught fish on slip corks and tight lines using minnows but the most fish came on slip corks. The second hour and a half the bite became much slower and fish seemed to move a little deeper. Most of these were caught on tight lines 8-10 ft deep over the same water. The bite became much softer and fish were difficult to hook. I ended the day fishing for 3 hours catching 30+ and keeping 23. Water temp in this area was 53° all day. I will try to attach a pic of the 7 biggest but am somewhat new to this so we will see. The decoy in the background is a little over 13".Name: IMG_20140328_152829_535.jpg
