Got on water today at 1pm and left at 5:30pm..unloaded at Crowder and water temps were in the 70's no matter where you went from there. Long Poled today with 2" Yum Beavertails in blk/chart, blk/pink, pumkin/chart...all caught fish. Ended up with 19 big females and 2 males all came from 6' to 8' DOW. Talked to alot of different fisherman today including Todd and Barry. Both guides were working and both were catching a few fish also, but most were dipping minnows and tied up in 1 spot and not doing very well. Even talked to 2 waders fishing the flooded buckbrush and were catching some really small males. I was amazed that I didn't catch a single throwback today using those bigger baits, which yesterday I threw back like 100 small fish. Seems to me its better fishing in the afternoons and evenings right now....Ranger

Thanks for the report, you and EB keep us folks that are not close informed, I will be down on the 11th for a four day campout at Hickory, hope they have moved in by then.

Fished the Blocker/Crowder area today unladed at 8am and the early bite was pretty slow..as the sun came out and the wind layed alil the bite picked up and fish were holding in 6' to 8' of water. Caught 5 by casting and dragging brush but most came from longpoling yum beavertails and 3" chart/sassy shads.ended up with 27 crappie and caught alot of dinks today..caught several just a 1/4" longer of the 3" sassy shad. Water temps got up to 78 degrees in the back of the necks and NO BLACK MALES ON THE BANK YET.....Ranger

Fished twice today, early this morning........it was slow, mostly dinks, and then again this evening..........same story. Lake level is dropping rapidly and only 3 and a half feet above normal. I've never seen the flood gates opened to 60,000 cfs, but did yesterday (according to the corp's website) and all week they have been pouring it out at 30,000 cfs. Water temp on this local dock in which I fish is 70 degrees and warming up daily. Glad to hear you're catching them Ranger, good luck to all over the weekend.

Me, a buddy of mine and a coworker of his hit Crowder/Rock Creek area this morning. The bite was decent right off the bat with the better fish holding on brush in 8 to 12ft of water. In fact, this was the theme of the day. Find brush, even something as simple as a log laying on the bottom, and there would be a Crappie on it. We then hit the Blocker bridge area and picked up more fish until they seemed to slow around 12 or 1 and then we made our way back to Crowder/Rock Creek to hit the piles we had hit that morning.

It was one of the few times I saw Cajun Cricket and Electric Chicken Slab Slayers out perform Blk/Pnk & Blk/Chrt Beavertails, but it happened today. Buddy's coworker used some minnows for a while and did about the same. It was interesting all day. When he wasn't using minnows, he used 1/16th oz jigs most of the day and caught a lot more fish than my buddy or I did. We were using 3/16 and 1/4 Crappie Pro heads and while we didn't catch as many dinks as the 1/16th oz heads, the ones we caught were very decent fish with fewer dinks. The biggest fish of the day (just shy of 2lbs) came off of a blk/pnk beavertail with a Orange 1/4oz Crappie Pro jig head.

Ended the day keeping 40 fish over 10". We probably caught well over 100 fish today with the dinks being about 3 to 1.

Any advice if a man were to try them tomorrow..hickory point..crowder/blocker bridge? Also the boat I have doesn't have a high tech fish finder to find the brush piles or lay downs.

Fish the Blocker Bridge area, look for an ol fart with grey hair and a grey beard, (my fishing buddy) and anchor up close to him. Just don't tell him I said so...........he hates the forum and the idea I share info on here.......... hahahaha.

ha ha, I'm definitely not in any shape to make any enemies. Just moved to the surrounding area and looking for some helpful advice. I know all this rain kind of messed things up for the time being.
