Just got off the phone with my fishing buddy and he went early this morning. Crappie didn't start biting til around 9:30am, but when they started, they kept him busy until he had his limit at 11:30. He started out with (4) poles, couldn't keep up, put (2) of them up, then finally he was using only one pole. Of the 37 he kept, only (4) of them were small, (he kept them for jug lines).

All the crappie were caught shallow, in less than 6 feet of water along the rip-rap on highway 69. He only uses minnows and he went through 1-1/2 pounds in a little over 2 hours. Ended up having to use dead minnows and the crappie bit them because the boat was rocking around so much in the high wind, it made them appear alive.

He said it was very hot by 11am and he was "worn out" when he got home. He had just awakened from a nap when I called. It's a good report and I wanted to share his success with you guys.Thumbs Up

No, sorry I can't say. This guy bristles up everytime I mention the forum and gets mad if I say anything about where he fishes.

Fished at Blocker on Saturday. Man, did weather.com get the forecast wrong. They said the wind would be about 12 to 14 and it was blowing up to 30 or so when we got there. Anyway, we fished with beavertails around the bridge in 6 to 10 foot of water from 7 to noon and cleaned 30. I'm sure it would have been better if they were running some water. Oh well, maybe next time.

Fished longtown today and caught em pretty good. Ended up with 19 over 10" and lost count on the dinks well over 50. Water temps were 78.3 on arrival and got up to 80.6 up in the creek. Was way to windy to fish up in the timber so all the fish I caught came from the mouth up to the where the timber timber starts. All crappie were caught in brush piles using super tubes in red/chart and blk/chart.
