Thanks guys for your comments and well wishes. He really liked the crappie and stated; "I usually don't like to eat fish, but I like crappie."

All the females were full of eggs and the egg sacs were firm and ready for release.

Don't you guys think with the warmer weather coming over the weekend that by the first part of next week the spawn should kick off?

I would think with the full moon being on Saturday, and some kind of special full moon at that, with the warm weather this week, that should be enough change in water temp to make them drop this weekend. What does anyone else think? Todd? EB?

I think we need atleast a couple more weeks for it to get going. Part of this may be that I will be out of the state beginning tomorrow for a week but also feel the water temps need a couple of weeks of the warmer nights and sunshine days currently forecasted. I would think the further south the more fish will be moving shallow especially in the evenings but it will be late March into April before moving much up North. The best part is once some fish start moving there will be many lined up behind them moving in later. Barring lake elevation changes or fluctuation April should be a banner month.

Crowder/Rock Creek area 3/18 water temp was 57 degrees late into the afternoon..another 5 to 7 degrees over then next few days/weeks will be the ticket..never found a fish in anything above 8' and only a few that shallow..ok 1...but hitting the 12' to 14' depth got em..well had 14 nice 1's 1 just over 2lbs. So yes its just around the corner..saw many fisherman working the banks with minnows and jigs but none catching..but i guess its not all about eatin good..its about enjoying the time on the water..talked to every boat i encountered being the good ole boy i am and from hearing the samething from all it was a better bite last wednesday..i personally didnt think the bite was bad today..had around 20 dinks so had a pretty good day..

    Default Gaines Creek 3-16 & 3-17

Fished Gaines with LipRippers on Wed. from 1230 to 6. We caught 25-30 and kept 16 good fish. The biggest was around 14 inches and fat. We caught most of our fish in 5-8fow jigging just off the bottom. Best colors were blk/pink and pumpkin/char. The bite was a lot slower for everyone we talked to. They all said it was better last week. Still a good day to be on the water.

Fished Gaines again on Thurs. with another friend of mine. We got on the water around 10 and fished until 6. We caught 25 and kept 21 good fish up to 1.5 lbs. The bite was slow again for us. We caught most our fish in 3-8 fow but did hear of some being caught shallower. Same colors as the day before. I expected it to be better, but that is fishing.

Going to fish Oologah this week.

Went with LipRIPPERS yesterday and caught about 15. Most hit a black/pink yum beaver tail in 3-4fow. Had to drag through the brush to get them to even look at it. Bit pretty well from about 2-4. Turned off before it got cold in the evening.

He's telling it right, there were 2 cedars {green} that all the fish came out of. And he had on a 2" cigar slipfloat with 2 jigs and set @ 3', he would toss it right into the cedar and get hung up then shake it around then get Hammerred!
In an act of humility, after gettin spanked...I cleaned his fish. Good job son! you make me proud!
