This may be a little long but it was, lets say an eventful day. In spite of all the rain on Wed. night we deciced to go ahead and go to Eufaula yesterday morning. We left BA at about 745 heading to the south end of Eufaula. My buddy wanted to take his boat out since he had just got it back from the shop. None of us 3 had ever fished the very south end so we decided to go down there. We used our navigation system to find a ramp, this was our first mistake. It took us to a ramp in an addition somewhere SE of Buggtussle. Let me just say it is steep and was muddy. We decided against it and had to go to 4wd to get out

. We then went to Hwy 31 landing, nice ramp but looks a little remote. The boat fired right up and floated off the trailer, but when we tried to put it in gear the shifter was locked up

. We called the mechanic who had worked on it and he told us what to try. We had tools but not an extension to get to a recessed nut. So my buddy heads to McAlester to buy the tool we need. In the mean time the mechanic calls us back and tells us he just remembered even if we get that tool we can't fix it with the other tools we have. We decide to troll around a little bit at about 1130 since we have drove 2 hours and never been to this part of the lake anyway. We troll over to Hwy 31 bridge and fish for a couple of hours, and decide to head back. We get about 1/3 of the way back and the trolling motor gets weak and we are just kinda sitting still in the lake

. One of my buddies takes the cowling off and we start the motor. My buddy uses a leatherman tool to pry on the pin to release the shifter and the motor goes into gear

. We drive back to the ramp before taking it out of gear and trying it. It shifts fine into forward and reverse from then on. We guess something was just bound up and after it shifted the first time it fixed it. So we decide to go fish about 245pm.

So here is the fishing part of this story. We went into the creek and fished the channels in about 10 to 18 fow. We caught over 30 fish and kept 13 10 inches and over. We quit fishing at 5pm. All fish caught on jigs. Blk/char was the best but we caught some on elcectric chicken. The amazing part to me was the water temp was in the upper 40's to low 50's. With all that happened I considered it a successful trip. We now know a place to launch and what part of the south end looks like. We headed home about about 545 and on the way home we got pulled over by the OHP

. He was nice, but said we didn't move over while he was on shoulder making a stop. We told him there was a line of traffic on the inside lane. Like I said he was nice about it and only wrote my buddy a warning. Quite an adventure for us:D. I made it home to Talala at 9 pm, and was wore out. My wife asked how the day went and I told her I'd have to tell her later, it would take too long.
