You would greatly benefit from hiring a guide for at least one day. I used EB a while back and it really helped, it was the best money I have spent on crappie fishing. More than anything else you will get confidence in techniques that are currently not producing for you but should be. When you fish with someone who is very experienced you get the nuances that you just dont pick up when you read about a technique. From my experience with EB and what I have heard about Mark they are both very good teachers and understand some clients want to learn from them not just catch fish and they do a good job teaching them. In my case with EB he set his boat up to spider rig and took a couple of hours away from the most productive way to catch fish at that time of the year to teach me. He also showed me how to catch fish in the rip rap, and what type of shoreline the crappie like at that time of year. He burned some gas on me, let me tell you lol.

Welcome lovnfshn, as guides and fisherman we are learning everyday, Ranger and I talk everyday about crappie fishing. We have learned from each other along with several of our other crappie fishing buddies. We live by 2 rules mostly.

1. You never have to beg crappie to bite!

2. Never leave when your catching fish to find fish!

Thanks for your input i appreciate it. I usually look a little bit on the fish finder cause im still learning to use it well at least the down imaging but, i usually end up trying different places and just dont do much good but, a bad day fishing is better than sitting at home or working. I currently fish out of a pontoon boat and getting ready to get a boat mainly geared for fishing. The pontoon is hard keep still sometimes.
I have thought about getting a guide and i know i would learn from them and catch a fish for once in my life. lol
And again thanks for everyones advice.

Im new here as well. Im thankful of the tips u guys pass on. My question is i have just got back into crappie fishing after 3 yrs and i was wondering if i have missed the pre spawn at blocker and I40?

Welcome Champion94...I would say no but with each day the spawn is gettin closer. You will find spawning crappie all the way into mid to late May. With all the cold fronts coming in each week its hard to get that perfect water temp. You will find crappie trying to move up in Wt's as low as 55 degrees but the perfect temp is in the 60's for fast action on the banks. Good Luck and post your success...Ranger
