I was able to get out around 2:00 after football practice and fish awhile. We ended up cathing 12 keepers over brush in 7-12 fow flippin baby shads and beaver tails. Lots of short fish today and boy was it hot. I guess summer is trying to stay as long as it can this year. I ready for those 60-75 daytime temps. EB

Fished the North end today fished from 7:30 til 1 and cleaned 21 nice fish. Had 20 whites and 1 really nice black. Fish came off of wood in 6' to 10' DOW with the temp being in the 80's. Baits of choice were beavers and woolybees in pearl/chart. and pumkin/chart. today longpoling and blue thunder baby shad when cast and draggin the wood and banks. Had to leave early today cause the Gr'Kids are showing chickens this afternoon and I can't miss that. Even if they weren't it was so hot I ran out of gator aid and water at 12 so it was time to go anyways....Ranger

Hey Ranger, is water temp. still in the upper 80's? It's been several weeks since I fished E, and the water temp was 89 when I got there, and 89 when I left that evening. Caught 17 in 2-8 ft. on wood. Not a drop of wind .....miserable.

Went exploring today on the south end and to my surprise I found lots of crappie on the transition breaks along the drop offs. Caught many short fish and ended up with 26 nice crappie that I cleaned. One thing I did do was down size my jig to 1/8oz instead of the 1/4oz I had been using and it worked much better making the fall slower and caught many watching the line fall and either it would stop or I would see a slight flick of the line..JERK..Baits were only the YUM pumkin/chart Beavertail or the Wolly Bee. DOW was on the break at 8' to 12' and if you could fisd some stickups it was a plus. WT today was up to 87.6 degrees when I started fishing and stayed there all day. Never got below Elm Point and didn't get above Rock Creek.......Ranger

Hello everyone, I haven't posted much in the past but I do read on the site about every day or so. Usually working too much to get to go often enough to keep up with the fish. Well I've been off work for the past few weeks recovering from what the doctor said was "minor" surgery. From my side it didn't seem minor but all is well. So anyways I've been recovering well and the last week or so getting really tired of sitting in the house. I fished the south end as it's called on the west side of hwy 69, which narrows down the location for most folks, three days in a row from about 8 to 2 or so. The water is so low there are a lot of stumps showing that aren't normally out of the water, some are in the middle of the channel so if you go drive slow and be on the look out. Also be careful not to run aground just east of the bridge, the channel makes a weird bend there. The count for the week was Mon-10, Tues-24, Wed-12. Did not check the corps website but from mon to wed the level dropped 4 or 5 inches and wednesday there was eddies behind the stumps so they must of let some water out. Used black/pink beavertails and white/blue tailed tube jigs with 1/8th crappie pro jig heads, 5-7 ft depth ranges close tothe drop offs. Will try again tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
