Yeah I looked at that holder but it wouldn't fit my application. So like everything else I've had to do on this boat I had to put some creative work to use. I was counting on rods to bounce so I bought plenty of parachute cord and bungy cords.

I have been using the lead wraps. Seem to work better and last longer.

Couple things I failed to mention that's important about spider rigging. If you are not really familiar with the water you are fishing, it really helps to idle over the area you plan to fish watching your locator before fishing. This will help you identify what depth the fish are holding and locate structure in the area such as stumps, brushpiles etc. Not a lot of fun hanging up 4 or 5 rods with double hooks in a brush pile at the same time plus at times you may hold on a brush pile and catch several fish. I think the greatest advantage of spider rigging is when you drop 10 to 12 jigs tipped with shiners in front of the fish, you will get a reaction bite whether they are feeding or not. Another good way to catch a lot of crappie if you are not set up to spider rig is drift fishing double minnow rigs with slip corks. This works really well on flats and coves where the fish are scattered. Doesn't take any special equipment just rod holders and 4 or 5 rods. Set your rods at different distance out the side of the boat and the corks at different depths. Once you determine the depth the fish are holding, you can set all the poles that depth. We have caught limits of fish drifting with these rigs.

We done okay. Caught 25 to 30 fish. Wind and bugs killed us. Really limited to where we could fish because of the wind. Got out of the wind and the bugs were bad. Didn't catch any giants but had a good time.

I normally use light sticks on the end of my rods at night and don't use any lights in the boat because of bugs but the grandkids wanted lanterns on in the boats. We caught fish in 13 fow of water over brush on double jigs tipped with shiners and niblets. They were close to the bottom when we started out but came up higher as the night went on. Rather fish clear water at night but with the wind and new inflow lake was pretty stirred up.

Here's the inflow and the release. 55,000 cf coming in and 30,000 cf going out. Lake is supposed to rise 9 feet. We can't get a break.

That sucks for crappie fishing.

Looks like inflow peaked at 90,000 cf. Never seen it that high before. Lake has came up almost 10 feet in 3 days. They are releasing 37,000 cf this morning. Gonna be a while before fishing is good again and more rain is forecasted.

I was in Wichita Saturday. The Arkansas River was just about to flow over I-35. All of the low areas most of the way back to Ok were underwater.
Crossing the bridge below Kaw, it's pretty much at max release. The creek by my house that empties into the Arkansas River has backed up and flooded a nearby field.
Fishing will certainly improve below the dam and at Keystone.
