Went out yesterday evening caught some nice crappie. Tried the long line trolling EB was talking about on the eufaula post, it was working but pulled a lot of Dinks with that method, but it was working! We fished 4-12' mostly.

Went downlake from 82 bridge tons of sandbass and green backed carp, did a lot of exploring but not much catching of crappie. Still had a good time!
Went Thursday, had 4 12"-14" fish off my first spot then my boat went south on me AGAIN. Limped it back to the trailer and went home. Fish were 8'-12' deep, on wood.
Fished today after the rain let up and a cool morning a beautiful day with lite winds as it was. Had EB in the boat with me today and my best piles up the lake had Sandbass on them schooling when we pulled up and when we left, we just couldn't get out baits under them. So down the lake we come...Had 14 nice crappie today and the DOW was between 14' to 20' seemed to be what they prefered. All wood and alil finess fishing the piles as well. Baits today were Bobby Garland in blue thunder and silver metal flake along with red and black/chart tubes. We had 2 smallies and 1 black bass and a gasper goo....Had a great time with EB and showing him my lake. We also had several pull off before we could get them in the boat.......Ranger
To bad those sandies arent as good to eat as those crappie! It seems like it is a bumper year for sandbass.
Report from my fishin buddy that he was able to fish those piles today on the upper end of the lake that were covered with Sandies yesterday, and took 26 big crappie from them. He had a mixed bag of blacks and whites and some really big ones as well. The sad thing was he never caught a single sandy nor did he even see any surfacing action. He had his limit in 2 1/2hrs of fishing and closed the LW lid and fished for fun. Dang Ole Sandy's.....lol.......Ranger
Went out last night and early this morning, lots of fish but weren't eager to bite. Going down lake tommorrow!
I was out Wednesday and Thursday night to give small mouth fishing a try. Always heard the lake was good at night. Thursday night I thought my arm was going to fall off. I caught so many small mouth. Largest one was 3lbs on the digital scales. I found a bank, probably moved 50 yards up and down it just over and over, they never seemed to quit. I don't know if I just lucked into them as there were so many baitfish under my boat that everyone was there or if it is a good bank and always holds fish like that. I tried Saturday morning but didn't catch a single one. Caught a few black bass and of course drum. Didn't give crappie a try. Found a couple more brush piles. It was just so windy Saturday morning. Definately going back again Sunday night to try the small mouth fishing again. That was fun.
I hear the white bass are starting to school now. I would like to take my little girl out for them in the next couple weeks. Probably mid July. Anyone think they could describe locations where people go to catch them breaking? I know of one spot from Ranger09. I saw a couple boats here and there, didn't look like anything was happening so I'm not really sure that is what they were fishing for. I didn't want to roll up on them and ask.
Oh, sending my boat in next week to get it re-carpeted and the seats re-appolstered. Um....I need a fishing buddy for the next couple weeks. I won't make it the 3 or 4 weeks that my boat is going to be in the shop getting all pretty. Gotta be one of you out there that fishes all by themself like I do and could help a fellow angler out for a few weeks! I'll be going through withdrawls!

Brian,
The Sandies were breaking the water on the flat in front of Standing Rock Thursday and were on top fo the water for a very long time. But then again had a freind fishing the very same spot Friday and didn't see any nor di he catch any. If I was you I would head that way early in the morning and try it from say 7 to 10am. Then on the flat infront of Cookson campground between Cookson and Six Shooter is another good place to find some schooling sandies. Glad you got into the Smallies they are a blast to catch and fight like no other fish. Was it a bank that I showed you or was it a bank you just found. If I get a chance to get back on the lake I will give you a shout and maybe we can hook back up again..Mark
West of Goat Island, is a sand bass hit spot also.
