Taking the day off from work to go tomorrow morning. I have no idea where to expect to find the fishies, so I'll first look for areas like SNaylor mentioned. With all the humidity, I hope it isn't one of those super-foggy early mornings around the lake!

Wacky weather is probably going to have them wacky. That and the massive amount of rain. Hope they're biting and good luck to you!

Yeah, I know the weather pattern will probably have them all freaked out, but dang-it I haven't been out on the water in nearly two months and I'm getting stir-crazy! Certainly wouldn't be the first trip with a big fat zero. Hell, that is nearly my average...LOL!

Buddha it has been my expierence that when it's foggy, muggy and hot that early in the morning it seems to keep the bugs close to the water because of the moisture in the air and in return you'll find the fishing is good maybe it's just me but that seems to be a legitimate excuse for me it has proven over and over again for me ! On another note I was out today from 2-6:30, I caught plenty of crappie !! Alot of small guys but i did end up with about 20 to eat . I was out off the damn on the grate you will find that this is a very very big food source gathering for all types of fish mostly crappie it is approximately 6 ft below the surface and is quite large about six boats can fish it you find the bouys on the damn , drop anchor if you have a depth finder you'll see it . I wi tell you this before you loose and anchor or two go to academy and get to umbrella anchors you will need for 50 ft ropes 2 for each anchor this allows you to hook inside the grate and be able to collapse the anchor when you are ready to go !! Let me know if you try it and how it works !

Thanks for the info, SNaylor. I lost an anchor there during early spring, as a matter of fact!
I fished close by the grate some today, but not right on top of it. Caught only little ones the 5 hours I was on the water, and around the dam was the only place I found any. The couple of coves I tried weren't productive. I plan on going back tomorrow.
I think I need to take a day sometime and leave most (if not all) of the poles at home and just canvas the lake with my fish finder and identify potential spots. I am bad about staying in unproductive spots waaaaay too long, and I haven't yet found any 'honey holes'. In the 8-10 times I have fished TB, I tend to go to the same areas, even if they barely produce. I need to get several more spots in my waypoints so I will be more likely to move around more often. Its a bummer being a newbie and barely knowing what I'm doing...ha!

Great idea on canvassing the lake. I had to do pretty much the same thing except leave the poles behind and figure out how to control a 600 lb flat bottom jon on the water in the Oklahoma winds. Big time difference between it and a heavy fiberglass boat.
You can go to Google Earth and roll it back to 2011 when the lake was down and see the tips of the submerged timber. Here is a list of the fish attractors. Don't know if they are still in these spots listed.

Got out on the bird finally this morning for a few hours. Was a beautiful morning on the water. Tried several brush piles and submerged trees with no luck. Finally went over to Clear Bay marina and did some shooting. Caught 3 with 2 being 10" and the other 9". Went down to the twin bridges and caught 1 but it was 9". Didn't make it to the dam. Left the lake with the 2 10" as this will feed the kids a meal. Was using a 1.75" red/chartreuse tube with a 1/16th oz unpainted #2 black chrome sickle hook. Felt good to feel the thump.

I went again this morning, too. Just little ones again. I ALMOST went to the boat slips, but people were starting to hit the water, so I was afraid of being in folks way getting their big boats out. Wish I would have gone ahead and gone after hearing that. Plus, might have run in to you over there!

I fish them with caution. Some people that rent them will stare at you like you're crazy for fishing there. I wish I would have gone there 1st. I was alone for about 30 minutes and then 3 different renters came around where I was and started fishing. 2 of them were friendly but the 3rd one was mad dogging me so I rolled out. I have a 4.5' Pro Angler Tackle rod I fling my jig back between some of the pontoons and dock.
