Thanks for the info. I'll bypass it until the winter comes. I took my grandson out after school today, hes almost 8, we didnt take the boat out do to the possible weather moving in but as we walked to the boat we passed 1 bucket with 15-20 nice crappie and watched 2 other guys reel one in a crappie so he was good with fishing the marina. He caught 4, I caught 2, all keepers. He was happy.

Fished the dam from 7:00pm - 8:45 pm. Brought home 15 9" - 12". All male except 3. All 3 females had eggs. One was a fatty at 12". I used the exact same technique and setup as yesterday except I switched to my 9' Crappie Maxx ultralite rod. My hook ups were way better. Only lost 3 compared to the 10 yesterday. Don't know if it is because of the extra foot or being an ultralite but it is a dang good bank fishing rod. It got dark quick tonight at around 8 due to the storms rolling it. Was getting a pretty good rain on me towards the end. Caught my biggest ones around 8:30. Bite was slow when I got there at 7 but at 7:30 it turned on just like the night before. I'll be out there tomorrow night and going to play hooky the 1st hour or two of work Friday morning to try to get some morning time slabs in.

I'll be out there tomorrow morning. You going to be at the dam again, Nip? You can jump in the boat for a while if you want. I hope to be putting in the water around 0630. I guess I'll begin there and work shallow, then move deeper if need be. I'm interested in some of the other areas you talked about, too. Not familiar enough with the lake yet to know all the names of the areas.
Boat49...when you say the 'Marina', if I am at the dam looking out toward the water, do you mean the smaller marina on the left with the little store, or the larger one on the right?
-
The right. I'll be out there sometime in the morning.

I had plans of going to the dam in the morning before work but the wifey has a garage sale going on that I need to setup for so I plan on being there Saturday morning around 6:00. The spawn this year has been quite disappointing compared to years past. Mainly just the quality of fish. Been on the small side. I haven't given up yet. After the dam you need to hit the west side of the water tower. To date, that is where I pulled the best quality of fish two years ago. Also there is alot of standing timber just east of the Little Axe dock back in that cove as well as two coves to the North. You can't see it now with the water up.
I went tonight from 6:30 - 7:45 thinking I could snag at least ten. Wrong. The bite was cold. Managed only 3 at about 9".

I got out to the dam about 745 fished til 9 caught one crappie casting and retrieving a jig . I switched to a
Rattle trap and caught the little white bass about twice the size of the lure

Well looks like I might get to go fishing in the morning. Will have less than two hours to hit it. Probably have to pass up the boat ride though I would love too.

Nothing but one dink off the dam from 1030-230...tons and tons of bait fish along dam..gonna try the north side of the lake

Well, I just KNEW today was going to be a great fishing day, but it pretty much stunk! First fish caught was a nice 11-incher, all downhill from there! Man, even though the wind wasn't supposed to be very strong, the water was major-choppy early. I guess it was due to the direction the wind was blowing, because the wave action at the dam was quite strong this morning. I ended up having to move to the marina. Caught several dinks (and one really nice bluegill, I think) pitching and shooting a jig up into empty slips. The wave action had subsided somewhat after noon, so went back too the dam. No luck. Ended up giving my one big Crappie to a guy. Had my hopes high, but it was a letdown. Poor Jon!!! :)

Heard the big ones were on the north central side today. Of course they'll be somewhere different tomorrow.
