Sounds like a plan CJP...I forget you guys actually have ice up there. We had a little ice for a few weeks maybe back in January and then a little skim ice back a week and a half ago.
Other than about 4 or 5 weeks we've been able to get the boats out most of the winter. Of course the lake has been flooded from the recent rains and it looks like chocolate milk but at least it liquid. Unlike CJ, EF will flood in a heart beat. That rain 2 weeks ago had the lake up over 6' and just when it got back to normal we got the rain last week and it went up almost 8'. It's getting back to winter pool an of course we had the rain yesterday, so far it's still stable...I hope it stays down.
If this water keeps yo-yoing count me in on the golf.

Since I'm the only one going out and catching Gators....I figure I better pass the word on the next gorge!

CJ, LIKE ALL OTHER INLAND LAKES NOW HAS A CREEL AND SIZE LIMIT ON WHITEBASS.
You can only take 30 (Thirty) a day...and only 4 (four) can be 15 inches or over!

For me, these are catching Gators....2nd year! This is my quickest year to fill my freezer yet. I've tried Other combos with Chartreuse and other colors...I quit experimenting!

Water temp this afternoon was 39.4 to 40.3. I spotted a number of bait balls, some large and some "average". Some fish were suspended, while I marked quite a few near or on the bottom. I had the lake to myself. Two boats pulled out just before I launched.

Yesterday was a busy lake day. Lots of trailers in the lot and boats in the water. Very slow day for most, including me.

I could see fish everywhere. Some were suspended, but most on or near the bottom.

It was very windy all day, plenty of whitecaps. Water temps varied between 41 and almost 44, depending on depth and location.

Is the bait shop open over by the dam open and have minnows?

    Yep...and yep!
Stopped in Friday and Saturday evening for drinks...they had everything then...I didn't look to get their hours though...sorry!

IMHO, the late afternoon bite seems to be the best...almost like it takes a couple hours to get to the eating temp!
The Gator bite has been good and the Crappie bite really picked up.
    Water was still good yesterday.
