Default CJ WATER TEMPS AND FISHING THREAD FOR FALL 2015 & 2016

I had a chance yesterday afternoon to go out with Tin Guppy and a couple of his friends. It was my first time ever ice fishing. Ice was about 6.5 to 7 inches in the marina.

My first fish was a 10" crappie. Mostly gills after that. I even had one double hookup!

We ended up with 3 keeper crappie. Out of the ice hole, under the knife, into the hot oil and down my pie hole. Yummy!

    Thanks Rusty!!

they are also cutting trees in the Marina and Campground. Think many are dead or infected ash trees...

Went to CJ marina today. There were quite a few people there (maybe 20?). Some had set up pop-ups, but most just sitting on a bucket. It was a little gusty at times, but still very enjoyable.

Ice was maybe 4 to 5 inches in most places. Most of the marina ice was wet from melting by the time I left.

I didn't catch a single crappie today. Very few were caught by others as well. I caught quite a few medium to small gills.

Ice on the west of the south breaker wall was pretty sketchy looking and you could tell where the wind had shifted the ice. There were a few patches of open water. Too bad the weather hasn't been colder to let that ice build. My guess is that fishing would be much better there than in the marina (at least it is during the warmer seasons)

I rigged up my transducer on my portable Humminbird unit to a half-filled water bottle as a float. That worked out pretty well. I could see the fish coming up from the bottom after my bait. It has a flasher mode, but the normal scrolling views worked well too.
