Hit the CJ for the first time today. Needless to say, it was a rough and wet endeavor. Lake looked good and I marked plenty of areas with fish stacked on top of each other. One hit and got away, but nothing else. Boat control was a major issue. I-pilot couldn't keep up. Used mostly blade style baits today. Water temp was 48 at 11:30am. Hope you all are well.

Typical Early Spring bite on CJlol....with the weather all screwed up, you have to really slow down...presentation is key right now.
This is the time to slow retrieve and lift to keep your lure in the strike zone...they will eat but you have to sit it on their nose and make it look like it's dying or injured....also a time to experiment with very slow vertical jigging, or fishing under a bobber!
That SE wind is tough....Nice Report...Thanks!

The most dependable bait store in my opinion is Buck Creek Carryout at Rt 4 and Villa Rd. They are open at 6:00 A.M. every day EXCEPT SUNDAY when they are not open at all. I'm not sure but I don't think Leen's opens until 8:00. Jake's on Bird Rd. is supposed to open at 7:00 but they aren't exactly reliable in that department. From the looks of C.J. Shoreline on across from Leen's I'm not sure he's going to open at all this year. Mike at Lakeside told me they had decided to open at 7:00 but he didn't mention Sundays. Their Facebook page says that they open at Noon on Sundays. The best ongoing advice is to get what you need the night before if you're an early riser. I remember the "good old days" around 2000 or so when the place that is now Lakeside was open at 5:00 A.M. in season. Didn't last long but that was pretty cool.

Last year they were open at 6 and told me they would be changing their hours based on the fishing season. My only reply was there is no such thing as a fishing season. They eat all year just like we do, just depends on how dedicated you are to going to catch them. I did go out sunday. Had to wait for leen's to open at 8 and there were 3 of us waiting. I was the only boat on the water. It was cold and miserable but I did manage to catch (2) 7 in crappies in about 17 feet of water out from the beach. Was totally worth it.

Default CJ WATER TEMPS AND FISHING THREAD FOR FALL 2015 & 2016

Lowest water temp last night was 59 and was in the middle between MBR and dam. Temp at dam was 64 to 65.

Tonight was similar, slightly warmer. Coolest water I found was east bank near marina, 56-58
