We fished yesterday from 6:30am till a little after 9 and water temp was 79+deg at about 1ft down. Water was a lot cleaner and clearer than I had expected and that is good as the last time I was on CJ it was not looking real good.So the rain the it got must have been a lot more the we did up in the St.Paris area.We landed two 6in crappie and two small cats as well. We decided to pull out when the last crappie I caught was in the process of putting Coppertone on as was a little mad! It's the heat getting to me !!!!

I went up two weeks ago and fished with my wife from 9P until 2A Friday night. We did not get skunked but all we had was dinks. We did have an interesting variety though: Bass, Bluegill, Crappie, Catfish and even a little Perch. It was a nice cool night but even when we left water temp was still 80ish. We went to the Little Miami river just below rt35 the next day and had over 30 red eye/Rock Bass and smallies, best smallie was just over 14 inches. Nothing huge but a lot of fun on light tackle.

What's up with no rain in the sprawling metropolis of St. P.? The folks have been fighting water for the garden all summer but I'm still cutting my grass twice a week in Beavercreek. At least there wasn't a late hail or frost that killed all the berry buds. I picked about 4 gallons of Black Raspberries and I'm heading up tonight after work for Black Berries.

Good luck on berry picking and any extra can be left here on Runkle Road !!! Have camped and fished the last two time at CJ so were going to try Indian Lake for a few days, so of coarse its going to be in the 90's with a heat index of over 100 !!! Glad the camper has AIR !!

    Hey Intimidator
I tried hose Better Boy tomato plants this year. I picked my 1st ripe one the other day and added a couple of nice thick slices to a sandwich today. I got to say they seem to be a nice meaty tomato, not all seeds and juice. Combine that with the fantastic flavor and it was a real treat.
    Thanks again for the tips.

Anytime buddy....mine are closing in on 10 feet tall.
Fixed a couple Porterhouse steaks from Gills....and just had my first BIG bunch of 'maters, sweet corn cucs, and Mesclun classic and sweet salad mix with Arugula mixed in! Cucs, Salad, and lettuce mixes grow wonderful in barrels or pots also....nothing healthier for us "older folks"!lol
I'll be eating good until the killing frost!
Then I'll freeze plenty of salsa and tomatoe sauce, and dry herbs for the fish in the freezer.
    Now I'm hungry again....

Since no one else is fishing CJ anymore....
I guess I can give out my late summer secrets.
Went out last Friday and a couple times this week for an hour each time....all 3 days were when Dale was sleeping after supper. Caught between 15 and 20 nice Crappie...and a few dinks....best fish was a dead on 14.
Everything was deep, water is clear.
Baby bass are about 3 inches....baby shad are about prime eating size of1 to 2 inches.
I downsized everything to 2 and 2.5 inches....and got the new leeches.
They are wonderful...they also float which makes for even more action when bottom bounce or floating down on a light Jighead.
My fingers were slimy after playing with just that one....and I did dye a few also.

Tomatoes are over 10 foot and still growing...they are producing every day and are still loaded.....they are getting 3 gallons of water each, 2x a day.
