Geez max I think I would have duct taped him to a tree so where and fished the rest of the weekend LOL..... Can't wait for my Erie trips to start. We did awesome crappie fishing and small mouth up there this year. Them smallys we're a BALL..... The crappie on the docks was awesome ..... And the walleye was good as usual. Erie is my fav by far.
Looking hard at Sardis-Grenada-Ky lake...... Decisions decisions.......
That is a bummer.

Hey James- I currently have non-resident annual licenses for KY-IN-TN-MS-FL and of course here in good ol ohio! If I can save all of T-BONES beer cans, I might be able to repeat next year![]()
Going back to Lake D'Arbonne,La in April for crappie we meet some neighbors from here along with a couple who live near Shreveport,La and camp at the state park at D'Arbonne. Here are pics from this past spring.![]()
I like that fish cleaning station.
I wouldn't leave on the Bama trip and he was sure to make the rest of that trip just plain miserable, I didn't want to go through it again.
The worst part of it was there were 4 of us. I made it clear when we were making plans that it was an exploratory trip just to see what East Harbor SP was all about and explore the prospects of fishing from the mainland.
The crappies and smallies are what I'm most interested in. Do you run out to the islands for the smallies?
C-MAX....... We have always done best smally fishing on the reefs, around Kelly's island, rattle snake island or around put-in-bay. We found em this year on a rock drop off around put in bay..... Dropped from 8 to about 22 ft. We just dragged drop shot rigs down the side of the drop. Did a "controlled drift". Wacky style senkos. Tough to beat soft crawls if the bite gets tough. If you can't get out after the smallys and the crappie don't play nice the large mouth fishing in the bays and around the docks is off the chain. Always something biting at Erie for sure. But to answer your question we've always done our best smally fishing on the big water, yes.
2014 Jr's small mouth from around put-in-bay. Kid was a natural with a drop shot rig
2014 large mouth from East Harbor

Nice fish.
That's about what I figured. I never got a chance to fish the harbor but it looks like it could be fun.
Back when I used to do Erie we used to get the smallies on the south side or the north east corner of Kelly's pretty good. I got some good wally's fishing for smallies up there. 1 night got one just at 31", the next night I got 1 that was 30 3/4". I never did the green fish up there but that could be fun too.
My biggest problem making the big run up there is that 40 hp motor is just a bit small. It's fine around here but it needs an energy boost on the big lake.
